This recruitment has not been much of a secret. The consistent word from sources around four-star PF Jarin Stevenson is he is looking to class up and enter college as a part of the 2023 class. The Pittsboro (NC) Seaforth High product has recently taken official visits to North Carolina and Alabama. Multiple sources have said those are the two schools involved.
Early in the process, Stevenson was considered a heavy lean to North Carolina. His high school is less than 20 miles from the Dean Dome, and his mother, Nicole (Walker) Stevenson, played for the UNC Women’s Basketball team. She won three ACC Championships from 1995-98.
Taking a look through the recent timeline of this recruitment, one source told me that Alabama held a commanding lead around the time of his visit. The development of Noah Clowney, climbing onto -and up – draft boards, I was told, was something that caught Stevenson’s eye with Alabama.
Since that time frame, the Crimson Tide has become heavily involved with power forwards Grant Nelson and Arthur Kaluma, two of the top remaining players in the college basketball transfer portal. They also play the same position as Stevenson. Another source said that this factor has brought North Carolina back into play, causing the Tar Heels to quickly gain a lot of ground. The photoshoot pictures from both his visits have been posted, so this one should be winding down quickly. One source close to the recruitment said North Carolina has a lot of momentum here.
Stevenson is the No. 30 ranked player in the 2024 On3 150. He is the No. 5 player at the power forward position and the No. 2 player in North Carolina. Stevenson is the No. 18 player in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average from all four major recruiting sites. He is averaging 12.8 points and 5.3 rebounds with the Team United program on Nike’s EYBL Circuit this Spring. Steven was named the 2022-23 North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year.

I havent heard anything about him Since his UNC visit but both his parents played for UNC I believe or at least went there so he'd be a hard pull. Sounds like he wants to reclassify, play one year in college thenturn pro. Not sure how much playing time he wound get at UNC I assume theres an easier path to playing time at Alabama.

That doesn't seem to line up with what we've been hearing on Nelson. One thing I kept hearing that he would make his decision by the time weekend was over... So, it seems to be weird thing to say that when we've seen players on Bama team mentioning Nelson.
I think Nelson already made his decisions but is holding off on announcing.
