Not desperate, we just desperately need a couple more good front-court players. Only ones we have healthy right now are Walters and Pringle. Mo's injury and Bediako leaving has left us pretty thin there has it not? Hopefully, Mo is back by the season.
Portal season is winding down too so that makes Nelson extra important.

Looking at the transfers coming in, one thing I love about all of them is how good they are at FT shooting. Estrada and Wrightsell have both been 90+% FT shooters in at least one of their seasons, and are over 85% career FT shooters. Even Nelson, a big guy (assuming we get him) is an over 70% FT shooter in every season he's played. That is absolutely HUGE for tournament time. In those tight games, guard play and FT shooting win (and lose) lots of games. We can conceivably put an elite FT shooting team on the floor (when factoring in JQ and Sears) in crunch time of big games. Good luck coming back against that.

Hoping Nelson announces tomorrow. Only thing would be better if we still had Walton with his height at the 3. We really need Kaluma to give us some length on the wing and play some of the four.
If those two dominoes drop this team can be more complete than last year on paper. May not have Miller but all around more talent and good free throw shooters with height.
