I don't think guys like the no midrange shots thing. I think it's a big deal. Has to be frustrating to come off the screen and wanting to take the middy but not really being coached to do so
Then they're gonna really hate playing in the NBA.

I don't think that has anything to do with it. They aren't told they can't take them. Their shots are charted all through practice and then they're shown that for the vast majority of them, the midrange is a bad/inefficient shot. So, unless they're exceptionally dumb, I don't know how they could be mad about facts.
Just growing up playing basketball if i come off the screen and i have a middy and im not allowed to take it that would annoy me. Just me tho.

Guys transfer in/commit to play this system specifically because it is very NBAesque and knowing we don’t do mid range shooting. Anyone who commits to Oats knows his system and wants to play in it.
The transfers are all money or opportunity plays.

You think Bradley came here because he wanted to shoot 3s?
Posted on 4/12/24 at 12:12 pm to Tide or Die87
"They play a fast-break style and it is guard-heavy," Bradley said. "They play multiple pick-and-roll games and some five-out when they have big men that can shoot. I like how they keep the floor open. The plan is to come in right away and help them win."
That's a quote from Bradley when he committed. The pro style lack of emphasis on mid range shots isn't deterring players from playing in this system.

Exactly. NBA teams shoot them more than we do, but not by a lot. The really well rounded, pure scorers will still take them, but that's about the full extent of guys who get any significant % of their production from middies anymore. Like I bet Miller takes a lot of them over the course of his career because he's tall, bouncy, and has a buttery smooth shot like every other player who has ever been efficient in the mid-range game. There aren't a ton of those players though. It's what makes guys like Miller special.

Tim Watts posted a nugget that says Bama is in good shape with Youngblood. His dad is from Tuscaloosa and his mom attended Alabama. Youngbloods camp thinks he is a perfect fit in this system.

I think it'll look something like that.
I really think Mark Sears stay and hopefully Grant Nelson does as well. I think to start the season it'll be something like this.
Sears/Wrightsell/Mo
Youngblood/Mallette/Cunningham
Reid/Walters
Nelson/Stevenson
Omouryi/Pringle/Sherrell
I don't have that much faith in retaining Grant Nelson for some reason. I have feeling that if he doesn't decide to go too the draft..he's going to portal out. I don't know why I got that feeling.
