He was probably just making a joke and wasnt that disappointed. He should know all the Alabama journalists are busy gang stalking Tommy Rees and interviewing car salesmen about Pruitt.

I’m glad we got this extension done.
I’m not particularly concerned about the buyout. Basketball programs don’t bring in much money compared to football programs, so the smaller football programs with great basketball programs like Duke, UNC, Kentucky, can’t really afford to outbid us on a contract basis even if their basketball program is financially stronger.
There are benefits to basketball from being a “football school” even though I hate that term.
The booster financial support for facilities and NIL is a different story. I think if Oats leaves it will be because of that. Not because of a salary difference.

Lol…yeah, I took it as him counting the money he’d have to pay for lunch and that it “wasn’t too many” for that. Think it was unrelated to his expected turnout of media members.

Yeah im glad to get it out of way, don't want anything distracting this team from their mission of winning the natty, and that should be the mission. We are good enough to do it if the cards fall right.

ESPN analytics also has IU a very slight favorite. Wonder what they know that isn't common knowledge.

Nate can get paid at Bama, he can get elite talent here and the insane expectations placed on blue bloods isn’t here. He has the perfect job and he knows it.
We want to win of course but as long we are making the tourney in some capacity every year I’m good.
He isn’t leaving Bama anytime soon.
Plus fans and decision makers at blue blood schools are still skeptical of Nate’s system. I think because of that currently he’s not quite the hottest candidate in the nation like he should be.
That will fade when we go on a run in the dance this year. Players make systems. You can win in many different ways. I’ve said before that if Nate could create a team perfectly fit for his system this group would be pretty close. Length all over the floor, great shooters and really good guard play. Plus a 7 footer used to make it difficult to drive and finish. Of course a skilled big man is Bediako’s kryptonite.

As a big fan of Nate and his system, i'm curious to see what we look like next year without a (The) Brandon Miller.
The system and all of that is obviously great and i'm a firm believer in it, but Brandon is so good that he makes us considerably better than we actually are without him. He's the type of legitimate superstar college player that we've seen other programs have occasionally and only wished we could have. No disrespect to Sexton, but Miller is a different level imo. He's literally that fricking dude and we have him and he's here because he wants to be here. Literally couldn't ask for more.
This team without Brandon Miller is still pretty damn good though and would probably compete for a conference championship - think about that. Oats had to have Galin Smith taking three's in year one with the roster he inherited to having a hard time finding minutes for Nick Pringle.
Who would rather have Galin than Nick? No damn body.
Nate and Hodgson and Pettway are fricking dudes.
The program has basically never been healthier. Nate was just extended and a new arena is definitely coming.
Most of us in this thread weren't old enough or even alive to enjoy the best decade of Bama hoops, but we're all about to experience the new best decade of Bama hoops together imo.

I’m late but I’m so glad Byrne did what it took to lock Oats up for awhile. Im sure in a couple years we’ll up the buyout again.

I'm not going to lie... Brandon Miller is a beast for real but Collin Sexton in this offensive system would of been crazy to.
He still had one of the greatest performances I've ever seen vs Minnesota.

Our line seems kind of low as well. I know it’s on the road, but LSU has lost nine in a row, seven of them by double digits. We just beat Vandy like that and the line is only 11.5.
