Is this what all you high rollers are coquettishly referring to?

Points in the Paint: “Lifetime contract” in the works for Nate Oats? (RBR)

The UA Board of Trustees is meeting on Friday. It will make us happy.

The biggest news this week is what is happening off the floor. Greg Byrne told a gathering of the REC on Wednesday that there was an announcement coming out this week that will make Alabama basketball fans “very happy.”

Upvote for use of the word coquettish.

Yeah, that's basically the gist of it. I wasn't previously aware of the contract talks though, and (maybe erroneously) believed the meeting tomorrow was in reference to the arena.

Not sure which is correct — hopefully both — but something good is happening tomorrow.

His timeline of events in that article is wrong, BTW.

Sounds like someone just guessing. I’ll believe “lifetime contract” when I see it.

The arena isnt on the docket at the meeting. Stage 3 of The golf facility is.

Gonna donate and then say in the note “give this to Labaron Philon in a McDonalds bag”

I'd go ahead and update that name to Dink Pate.

Lock up the coach now and while you're talking to him, let him know the new arena is on the way.

Don't want another school to come in this off-season or next and offer him the world. Getting Oats locked up now is the first priority.

Oats is getting a new contract at least, locking him down longterm would be huge.

Hoping the competition arena stage 2 is up for approval pretty damn soon though.

My out of town project got cancelled, so looks like I'll be going to Mardi Gras. Hopefully the guys are still mad about Oklahoma. Because even though tPear is dead and rotten, I still hate LSU.

Too low. That won't scare any of the bluebloods.

Here's where 4 million would put him in respect to the other SEC Bball coaches.

Calipari - 8.5 Mil
Pearl - 5.4 Mil
Barnes - 5.2 Mil
Mueeslman - 4 Mil
Buzz Williams - 4 Mil

Assuming it's closer to $4.3-4M that puts him in the Top 6-7 coaches nationally. His buyout was already gigantic in addition to that.

Seems very reasonable.

I cant believe we were paying Avery Johnson 3 million a year, had to be top 15 for a CBB coach at the time.

Bet its incentive heavy. Also wouldn't be surprised if Bryne gave him an NIL commitment
