I'd move State into Tier 2. They aren't winning games, but their weakness is pretty obvious and should be easily remedied. A couple of dudes who can get their own shots on the perimeter and/or driving to the basket would make them a really good team. They're also the only school you have in Tier 3 that actually cares about basketball, so I'm guessing the NIL money will be there to attract some decent players.

Otherwise I'd say that's a pretty accurate assessment of where the conference currently sits.

I actually had them in Tier Two originally and changed it at the last minute, so I don't disagree at all.

Yep agree. And everytime I watch them they get a lot of good looks (they also take a lot of long 2s but that's scheme not because they can't find shots).

Jans is a good coach. Honestly I think they still have a shot to go on a little run and make the tournament this year.

Long term I think Gates and Jans are the only two first year coaches that will do a whole lot. White can be UGA's Andy Kennedy, which is pretty much all they want from their basketball program. I think Golden will do pretty much the same, but at a program that won't be satisfied with 18-20 wins and sporadic tournament appearances. Paris and McMahon are looking like total disasters, although I'm not sure either ever really had much of a chance considering the circumstances of their jobs.

Yep - agree with that entire assessment.

McMahon was the most obvious "guy who won at a middie that always wins" hire ever. A throwback to the SEC hires of the early 2000s. I almost think it was on purpose so he'd be easy to fire after 2 seasons when their waters calmed.

Paris, I mean that never made any sense.

They apparently gave him like a 7 year contract, so unless the buyout is really low I don't think they'll be able to. It's really fricking annoying how so many schools in the SEC just do not give a frick, at an administrative level, about the second most high profile sport in college athletics. Even fricking Auburn, who didn't give a shite about it forever, finally decided to get serious.

And I think his contract gets an extra year of guaranteed money for every probation year that may come from Wade’s tenure.

I think I'd rather play Florida than Arkansas

You know this is going to change because UK isn't on our side of the bracket.

They never responded but there is a place to “leave a note” when you donate.

Gonna donate and then say in the note “give this to Labaron Philon in a McDonalds bag”

Rumor is that oats contract is done and will be announced Friday

Hey, I think I know where you got this.

I took that "good news" coming from the BOT on Friday (tomorrow) to relate to the arena — do you think it only applies to a contract?

Or was that just wishful thinking on my part?

If we can extend Oats and assure him he will get his shiny new arena? I don't see why he would leave unless the NBA came calling

As I've said for a couple years, with his style, that's my biggest concern.
