Our team reminds me a little of the '02-03 Syracuse team with Carmelo putting them on his back and dominating all year. They had 5 guys averaging over 9ppg with 3 of those guys being freshmen. We have six guys averaging over 7ppg and eight over 6ppg.
We're better than that team. They took a lot longer to gel and develop. That team was only a 3 seed.

His take was that obviously money talks, but Bama has the resources to keep Oats and he thinks the new arena will be built sooner than later (don’t think he would know for sure though)
Good to know someone doesn’t ignorantly believe the Bama job is total shite.
All of this bullshite about Texas. How is that a better basketball job than Bama? It’s a lateral move.

I want Bama to win a natty so I can tell them to shove that final 4 up their arse.
The boogs where I work are total shitheads about Bama basketball.
When AU was making their run in the NCAA tourney a few years ago I was nothing but complimentary.
This year, complete silence from them. Pathetic and envious lot they are.

I think Auburn is better than some of you do. If they had a point guard, they'd be much better. They've been shooting better. They are crazy athletic. Next 5 games for them are huge in the conference title race. They could go 2-3 or 5-0.

And, the only eventual suitor would be if the right NBA opportunity came.
Maybe but at his core he is a teacher. He was a HS math teacher and HS coach for 10 years. I think he likes the teaching aspect of coaching college players.
He seems to like traveling around recruiting a lot too and some coaches like Donovan hated that part of college coaching.

The other top coaches in the SEC he is coaching against have a lot more experience than he does.
The ceiling for Oats as a coach is very high considering what he has done already.
Trying not to be a homer here, but Oats is really a bit of a savant. The only other team in the SEC that runs sets as good as ours is Vandy, and Stackhouse spent like 30 years around NBA offenses. A dude who played at a DIII school, never sniffed a professional roster, and taught math to high school kids for like 15 years has no business drawing up the kind of stuff Oats does when we need a bucket.

LSU is beating our womens team 47 to 18 at halftime, Jesus Christ.
Almost as bad as we beat LSU's men.

Women's basketball is stupid like that. There is no such thing as a good team. You're either a great team or you're an also ran. There's no in between. Their tournament is chalky as frick every year.

I know. I can't really get into it. This is the first women's game I'd watched this year, wish I hadn't.
I'm sure if we would won in women's bball consistently I'd get into it, I follow our softball team pretty closely.

"They worry me a little bit," Nate Oats said of Mississippi State on "Hey Coach" tonight. "They played us pretty tough at their place for a large stretch of that game. ... We've got to come in, get our guys' minds right, make sure they're ready to go. Play with some toughness."

Oats: "We've got to show a little bit more physicality. I thought we should have done a better job on the glass against Missouri. Missouri is not a very good rebounding team. I didn't think we dominated them like we should. This [MSU] team is a really good rebounding team."

Nate Oats on "Hey Coach" tonight: "It's nice that we've been able to beat teams by close to 20, but that's not gonna continue to happen all year. There's some really good teams left on the schedule. We're going to have to execute [late in games]."
