The 2020-21 Alabama team that earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament allowed an average of 70.1 PPG.
This year's team is allowing an average of 69.2 PPG through 18 games.
And this team doesn't have Herb Jones.
I think this team beats that one 4 out of 5. That group had to grind when they weren't hot from 3. This team is far more consistent in their offensive performance. The only team that has given us any real headaches on that end is UConn, and I don't think all that ball pressure and trapping would bother us anymore.

but you cannot win big without players like him who reliably do their jobs.
For sure. And he's done a much better job then last year. Teams aren't driving at will. He has his soft moments, but he's improved a lot during the off-season.
One thing is, and maybe it's what has my blinders on, is we don't necessarily look any worse, possibly look even better, when we run small ball with Clowney playing center. Get Sears, Bradley, Burnett, Miller, and Clowney on the floor, and we've been deadly as hell.
But in all reality, in the tournament, to go deep, we will need a true center. Clowney might get eaten alive (or in immediate foul trouble) against some Big 10 bruising centers.

love Nate Oats and the entire coaching staff.
They really CARE!!
My same feeling. He actually cares about these guys. They aren't tools to get wins

This year's team would win by double digits.

Honestly I would probably go small against Big 10 teams as well, stretch out their big men and keep the pace high. That's one of the main factors why the Big 10 look great in the regular season but come tournament time, they generally underperform greatly. Edey would do damage against us but imagine him trying to guard Clowney out on the perimeter and that opens up lanes for our Guards (and Miller) to gash them through.
However, if it doesn't work, it's nice to have the line up flexibility we do have where we can still throw Bediako/Pringle on the court and barely lose half a step.

Clowney is a top 20 player in the SEC in BPR, so it wouldn't necessarily be noticeable. We are good either way. There aren't any bad players on this team.
I don't pay for access to any of the lineup analysis, but I think SoG did last year. Not sure if he still does, but I'd be curious to see what our most efficient lineups have been this year.

SI write ups from today’s press conference
Nate Oats: Alabama G Nimari Burnett Could Return as Soon as Next Week
Burnett has been out due to a wrist injury since early December.

The Crimson Tide’s flight plans back to Tuscaloosa after its win at Vanderbilt were canceled — but it was a blessing in disguise.

Some posters on here are never gonna give Bediako any credit. When we signed him I used to argue on here with posters that said Bediako wasn't any good and that Langston Wilson was better and was gonna start over him.
Langston Wilson is averaging 2 points per game in his second year with Washington.

Dec.17 was the last time we gave up 70 plus points. (Just researched it) THAT'S CRAZY

I don't have a paid subscription anywhere either, but Evan Miya does gives some limited info for free. According to his site our best lineup is Bediako, Bradley, Clowney, Miller and Sears.

That’s our starting lineup too. Props to the coaches.

That's not a coincidence either. You better believe Oats is dialed in on all things analytic.

They just got Isaiah Mosley back last game too after being out a few weeks. He averaged 20 points at Missouri State the last two years and has games this year of 23 and 18 points.
They are loaded on offense.

Oh nice, I didn't see that. When I clicked on lineup ratings it hit me up for money.
And I agree it definitely is not a coincidence that that is also our starting lineup. You know the staff tracks this kind of thing.
Also, that Gonzaga game. Woof. Wish we could get a do over on that one. They basically did to us what we did to LSU the other day, but we had the players to punch back and keep it interesting.

That offensive and defensive efficiency against LSU is insane.
Also interesting that our lowest two offensively have been against Vanderbilt and Jackson State.

Does Miller win SEC POY and SEC Freshman of the year?
Posted on 1/20/23 at 2:21 pm to Chadaristic
How much more CONSISTENT does Brandon Miller have to be?
Like give that man his just do...best in the entire country PERIOD.
Edey is good but very one dimensional so it's DEBATABLE.
