If it were given today I don't know how anyone could beat him out.

Oh nice, I didn't see that. When I clicked on lineup ratings it hit me up for money.

Same. But if you go Team Breakdown > Overview you can select any team you want and it will give you that page I posted a screenshot of. I assume a subscription will go more in depth and give you comprehensive ratings for every lineup we've had on the floor this year plus some other stuff.

Also interesting that our lowest two offensively have been against Vanderbilt and Jackson State.

Vandy can be probably be explained mostly due to the Miles situation and maybe some of it was their funky gym. Wouldn't be the first time depth perception in Memorial has caused issues for guys.

Jackson State idk. Without going back and watching I'm just assuming guys were probably half assing it more in that game than any other game we've played just because they knew there was zero chance of losing that one.

Based on everything that has happened so far, yes. The Freshman award is already a wrap imo. Tshiebwe could push him for SEC POY, but it's Miller's to lose at this point.

It’s crazy to say this but looking at our remaining SEC schedule, I think 15-3 SEC record is the floor assuming no additional “unforeseen circumstances” or Bama Basketball curses. There just aren’t many losses on that schedule with the way this team plays (that said, no idea how UConn is in a tailspin so have to avoid that).

Me too.

One thing that has maybe given me the most confidence this season (so far) is this team's ability to hit another gear when needed.

In the past I think we go into a struggle-fest at the end of some of these more "lackluster" games, whereas this year it's mostly been racing back ahead by a comfortable margin when needed.

Certainly hasn't been perfect by any means, but I really trust their ability to regulate the flow of the game, especially now that the turnover issue has vastly improved.

The "Kill Shot": Tracking double digit scoring runs in games (10-0 or better) over the course of the season.

A team with more scoring runs than the opponent wins 81% of the time. Here's the landscape of the top 75 teams in terms of runs scored and runs conceded

quote:

Here’s the graph of Kill Shots for all power conference teams:

quote:

Here's a table of the most Kill Shots per game for all D1 teams:

Houston and Rutgers are the only teams over 20 Kill Shots this season. High octane mid-majors Liberty and Youngstown State also have had lots of scoring sprees.

quote:

Here's a table of the fewest Kill Shots conceded per game for all D1 teams:

Seven teams have only allowed one double digit scoring run this season: UConn, TCU, Auburn, Saint Mary's, Cleveland State, New Mexico, and Texas A&M-CC.

Our Kill Shot numbers are:

Kill Shots per game = 0.72
Kill Shots conceded per game = 0.22
Total Kill Shots = 13
Total Kill Shots conceded = 4

Wow, great data.

Missouri seems to be in their own unique category.

Honestly I would probably go small against Big 10 teams as well, stretch out their big men and keep the pace high. That's one of the main factors why the Big 10 look great in the regular season but come tournament time, they generally underperform greatly.

That's a good point.

Edey would do damage against us but imagine him trying to guard Clowney out on the perimeter and that opens up lanes for our Guards (and Miller) to gash them through.

I'd assume they would try to guard us with different zones. If we went small, they wouldn't go man to man unless we started nailing 3s.

Not surprising 2 of our worst games were Memphis and Gonzaga. Right after Burnett goes down. Glad we didn't lose to penny.

Chad - great data as always. Any chance at getting 10 point runs against graphed vs middle of game timeout usage? I’ve seen several teams call timeout after 6-7 points but we typically let it go 8-12 before calling the TO.

That might be something that can be pulled with a subscription to the site, but I don't have one. What I posted is something Evan Miyakawa tweeted out himself.

ETA: aslo, i'm pretty sure a timeout being called is irrelevant to the kill shot stat. If a team scores at least 10 points consecutively it is a kill shot no matter what. A timeout being called wouldn't reset the count.
