Oats said the only issues they had with Miles were trying to get him motivated to practice harder, which was something that high school coaches said, too.

"Nobody saw this coming."

"He's one of my favorite kids I've coached. There [were] zero off the floor character issues when we recruited him. He comes from a really good family."

Says that his father is a retired veteran and his mother is a police officer.

Instead, the Crimson Tide took a bus home — and stopped at the new Buc-ee's in Athens.

Apparently, it was Greg Byrne's idea.

I see his numbers, but to be nice, I'm slightly skeptical about him being #6 and ahead of Miller. He's a good player and much better than last year. But he definitely has moments where he plays too passive. But there aren't many 7 footers that can run like Oats wants. But when he's playing assertive and with fire, he's a man possessed.

But dude needs to adjust his formula. Miller does literally everything. Especially now that he's started being more aggressive driving the lane. Even on defense, Miller is all over the place. We're still a very good team without him. But no way we're 16-2 winning every SEC game by double digits.

In terms of individual player quality he has Miller way ahead of Chuck. "Best" using BPR is more along the lines of how much a guy contributes to his team winning when he is on the court, which is where they are pretty much equal. Basically we have 2 of the top 7 team players in the country, and since basketball is a team sport that is pretty important. Chuck is an elite glue guy. Miller would also be an elite glue guy even if he didn't also happen to be a soon to be lottery pick. Chuck is never going to produce anything close to what Miller does, but you cannot win big without players like him who reliably do their jobs.

Does that mean $60m more or we already have x and we need to get from x to $60m?

I believe we need to get to $60M, not in addition to whatever has been donated

I just realized we will clinch the SEC regular season on the last day at home vs Ark. Tenn will lose to Aub in Lee County that day. Sounds like fun.

(no posting yet of this week’s Nate Oats Show - not sure if it’s just delayed or if they didn’t do one)

That is what i'm hoping. Do we have any idea how much we need to get to the $60m number?

No. 4/4 Alabama Faces Missouri on the Road

Alabama men's basketball wraps up its two-game roadtrip on Saturday against Missouri at Mizzou Arena. The No. 4/4 Crimson Tide look to improve to 7-0 in the Southeastern Conference while the Tigers are coming off their third win over an AP Top-25 opponent this season (79-76 vs. No. 25 Arkansas).

The Alabama-Missouri matchup features two of the best scorers in the conference as Alabama's Brandon Miller ranks first in the SEC, scoring 21.6 points per game during conference play, while Mizzou's Kobe Brown is averaging 18.1 points per contest, which ranks No. 4 during SEC games.

The Broadcast
Saturday's game is set for a 5 p.m. CT tipoff and will be aired on the SEC Network with Mike Morgan (play-by-play) and Daymeon FIshback (analyst) on the call.

The radio broadcast can be heard on the Crimson Tide Sports Network with Chris Stewart (play-by-play) and Bryan Passink (analyst) on the call, while Tom Stipe (engineer) is turning the dials. The pregame show will begin one hour prior to tipoff.

My interpretation was we need to get to 60 mil and then the University will cover the rest.

I have no idea what we're currently at, I doubt they would make it public but with the push from Oats and now apparently former players, we'll get there sooner rather than later.

Sporting News 2022-23 midseason college basketball All-America team
quote:

First Team

Brandon Miller, Alabama
6-9, 200, Fr., F

Key stats: 19.5 ppg, 8.2 rpg, .456 FG, .463 3-PT

Defining game: 31 points, 9 rebounds, 7-of-11 3-point shooting in 106-66 win vs. LSU

Overview: If he were a little more consistent – and if Edey were half a foot shorter – Miller might not only be the best freshman in the country but the best overall player. Miller is having a magnificent first (and only) season with the Tide. He delivered 24 in a narrow win over Memphis and another 24 in beating Michigan State. He had 36 in a loss to Gonzaga. He tends to be overly reliant on his deep shooting, which is kinda good for someone who makes nearly half his attempts, but not so good when he’s capable of physically overwhelming opponents. When he went 0-of-8 but the Tide beat Houston on the road anyway, five of his attempts were threes. He can do better. Which is frightening.
