you should hear some of the comments from fans that have no clue what they are talking about or the actual rules of the game...it's ridiculous!

This is the worst. Nothing like a fan who officiates from the stands based on what THEY think should be the rules. Then they get irate when SEEMINGLY the same call goes against their kid.

The best analogy I can give is when a batter leans in on a curve ball and gets hit on the elbow. His parents and team's fans are in unbelief. They don't even think that leaning into a pitch is against the rules.

Then two and a half innings later a curve ball legit clips a kid on the other team and they are chasing the ump after the game.

The number of blocking fouls and charges that should just be play on situations has gotten ridiculous

The idea of "play on" being applied a lot more often could definitely improve the college game.

First, the main problem with charge/blocking calls is simply the large percentage of them where the defender does get fairly set but at about precisely same time the offensive player has already left his feet. These just need to be play-ons instead of refs having to flip a mental coin to call one or the other.

Layups and rebounds where there is some minimal contact but the "fouled" player converts the layup or secures the rebound anyway is another area where you could reduce stoppages.

I'd even like a new category for the type fouls that don't disrupt the run of play on their own. Address similarly to soccer in just accessing the foul to the offending player at the next stoppage of play.

My son and I drove up for the game last night.
It was the 1st I'd seen in person this year.
All the length, athleticism, depth, Brandon Miller is what separates this team from all the others.
On my way home listening to the college basketball talk, Seth Greenberg & Laphonso Ellis both said Alabama is currently the best overall team.

in soccer the foul is called right away and the game stopped. If a severe foul they get a card.

When Bama is shooting well from the 3 and they limit their fouls to under 10 then game in and game out they will win by double digits. Most of the last 6 games we have been able to do most of that. Tonights game we had 14 TO's which is the most in a while. Hitting FT's is huge and right now Sears and Miller and Clowney, our best 3 players, are hitting their FT's. Sears and Miller are probably over 80%

No, many fouls in soccer are not called right away. If the team with the ball still has the advantage then the referee motions with both hands down and extended to continue playing.

Play is only stopped when foul itself completely disrupts the play.

Cards can be and are often accessed at next natural stoppage of play for a foul where the referee allowed play to continue.

Most soccer situations where ref allows play to continue even though there was a foul is something else that would be good for basketball in my opinion:

For example:
Point Guard on fast break gets fouled just as he passes to an open guy for an easy layup. It seems so counter intuitive to call all that back and erase the basket just because the PG got fouled during the pass.

Let the basket stand and just give the fouling player a foul.

I'm thinking the OU game on 1/28, but i'd be more than happy if he's ready before then.

That's where I'm at. If not this Saturday, maybe next Saturday. I doubt we rush him back Tuesday when we're hosting State

I take the downvotes as a compliment.
Shows they're jealous of the program's elite success.

The Missouri game is one I've looked at for weeks as a potential let down game. Feels even more so now with all that's gone on this week.

Would be entirely understandable for the team to have circled the wagons last night in the wake of Miles incident, but it's almost human nature to have that sense of "we got through that" and just be totally emotionally drained after the vandy game

We have a team that can genuinely win the whole thing regardless of what happens saturday, but I think that game will be our biggest test of mental toughness to date- recognizing that even a loss doesn't indicate a lack of mental toughness- this is just going to be a tough test a long way from home.

I haven’t kept up with Mizzou…are they a matchup issue or is this mostly just a “bad placement on the schedule” deal?

I believe in Texas, where Buccees stsrted and is more established, the stores tend to be 60 miles or so apart. Or at least that is what I was told.
With one Buccees being in Leeds (Eastern Birmingham) off exit 140, I wouldn't think they'd put a Buccees anywhere east of the Hwy 11/ University Blvd. Exit 79.

We didn’t get a Nick Pringle video after the game last night. Wonder if the Miles situation has something to do with it.

It’s possible. But I also know they tweeted something a week ago about how they need support to be able to continue the videos so it’s possible they ran out of money to pay Pringle
