He is and was the best overseas. His shot always been funky but he can shoot it. That ain't a lie!

He pressed a lot this game but he defended really well.

We really missed Dom Welch this game as well.

Loved the defense. Fix the dumb turnover shite and actually hit a few threes, and we'll be good. A 21-pt win against a not terrible team when we go 3 of 28 from deep is a pretty solid start to the year.

I heard the game on the radio but did not see it. If I was just basing the game on the comments here I would have thought we were awful and it's going to be a long season.
Except, The radio guys and Oats were very happy with how we played barring the turnovers. Passink seemed almost giddy at our prospects this year. Raving about our depth, athleticism, and defensive ability. They all say the shooting will come around because they have seen it in practice.

Interested to see what he brings especially 3pt shooting and hopefully Burnett can get it going. He did defend well.

I think we will be ok. Some guy were pressing. Not sure about the Miles, Gurley injuries situation. I think they are who they've been. Like the younger guys at those spots myself.

I think the general consensus around here is that if the shooting comes around and we clean up some of the unforced turnovers we're going to be really good.

Do we just practice in the basement? It seems like we can’t shoot upstairs in the arena. I know the depth perception is way different that it would be in the basement…..maybe we should practice in the arena all the time…

Miles & Gurley will not play much this season if they don't make improvements.

Miles can defend but offensively Miles hasn't worked on his game.

Gurley just need to play better period.

We had a lot of three's go down and pop out of the rim so it's just a matter of time.

Yeah this team has the potential to be really good once we start making 3s and clean up some of the silly turnovers.

The turnovers should get better as we start playing more against real competition. Many of those were not necessarily even “bad decisions”, just more so wrong judgement on how others guys were going to be moving without the ball. Those can be fixed with more playing time together. Others were sloppy I agree, but it was the first real game of the season and lots of guys were playing with jitters.

Now the 3pt shooting I believe scares all of us, but there is no way we are a 15% 3PT team when Sears and Welch came in being known as solid 3PT shooters, Griffen, Miller, and Clowney came in as some of the best shooters for their positions in the class, and Burnett supposedly shoots it better in practice than anyone else. Not to mention Quinerly once he gets back. I think Q is much closer to his shooting percentages from 2020-2021 than last year. He had to carry last year’s team too much, which he definitely won’t have to this year. They’ll figure things out to some degree. The difference between shooting 30% from three and 35/36% from 3 in our offense though is a big difference, so only time will tell where we fall on that end. I’m hoping this is just a blip.

And like Joka said, many of the shots were in and out or close off the iron. I didn’t see any airballs and only a few of them weren’t close. Law of averages will hopefully prevail.

Listened to BP and Chris Stewart on the way home last night and it sounded like we had several shots that were halfway down and pop out last night. Hopefully that’ll even out and we see some more fall.

I turned on the TV in time to see Miller throw down a put back with a couple of minutes left. Glad that we played better defense last night. Longwood averaged in the mid 70s last year and they have a bunch of those guys back… (I’m sure you all covered this last night) including a guy named… Litoras

Didn’t get to see the game but most of the comments here seem really positive. Excited about the freshmen. Hopefully the shooting picks up and it’s not like last year where we keep waiting for the shooting to improve and it never does.

They will drop sooner or later.

Burnett had like 3 wide open looks and I think two of them he barely missed.

Jaden Bradley deserves a big shout out because when everything was going crazy...he literally stepped up and made play after play too get us out of a funk.

Yeah, based on the little I'd heard his name in the offseason, and how he looked in the first half, I thought he might need a year, or at least months, to start performing at the college level. But, he came out and made some good plays in the second half.

Isn't this applicable to every team, every year?

He was the reason for half the turnovers in the first half. Still a sloppy passer. I don’t remember him getting minutes second half.
