Saw an interesting stat on Twitter that reinforces my belief we need to be looking to drive the ball this afternoon as much as possible:
quote:
SDSU is 20-0 vs teams with 3pt Attempt% in the top 150. And 67-5 in last 4 years. . Not losing to a top 30 3pt Att% team at all over that span (16-0) Winning by 9 in 14/16 Allowed 60 or less in half 67 or less in 13/16 . Alabama ranks 9th

Interesting stat but I would love to see the Mountain West teams that makeup most of those opponents.
ETA: we also attack the rim more and are way more comfortable doing it than most teams people would classify as a “3 point shooting team.”

If Alabama cannot finish at the rim or does not attack enough then we’re in for a disappointing night.

Quinerly and Miller need to take the ball to the rim every chance they get.

Good stat, reinforces that SDSU is one of the best teams in the country defending the 3pt line but I would say that's not going to apply to our matchup as much. Most teams that shoot the amount of 3's that we do have a tendency to over rely on the shot to make up for other offensive/roster deficiencies, for us, we're just running that system with great interior play and 4/5-star players all over the court. We've seen Alabama win big games when the 3pt shot isn't falling, it won't be much different going against SDSU than other teams we've faced that have a similar ranking against the 3 (Auburn comes to mind).

Jon Rothstein
@JonRothstein
Alabama's Brandon Miller (groin) is still not 100%, but "should be better than he was last weekend" in Friday's Sweet 16 game against San Diego State, per Nate Oats. Averages 19.1 PPG and 8.2 RPG.

The Houston game was a good barometer for what this team can do when healthy and not hitting threes. Miller barely scored in that game and we still won. Hopefully we can shoot the ball well tonight and stay patient.

He really didn’t score at all besides all the clutch FTs in the last minute

Vegas not being hospitable to UConn

On the same day they were forced to leave their team hotel in Las Vegas after reportedly finding, among other things, dirt and vomit in their hotel rooms, the Huskies also had personal items stolen from the team bus on Tuesday while practicing in advance of their Sweet 16 appearance, according to CT Insider.
"Disaster," coach Dan Hurley said after the game Thursday of the hotel situation earlier in the week. "Then stuff gets stolen. It was a debacle."

That was my point. We were able to win a brutal road game with Miller basically irrelevant in that match up. If we can do it against Houston on the road then we should be able to do it tonight.

I actually expect him to have a big game because he can get downhill and drive so well.

I look for Brandon David Diaz-Herrero Miller to really get going tonight.

I mean maybe if you stay off the strip at a motel8, sure.
There are probably more 4* and 5* hotels in close proximity to their venue than anywhere in the country outside of maybe NYC.

What’s the gump ratio in Louisville right now?
