Yea….Chuck on the 2 way contract with the Spurs. JD has been on the 2 way with the Celtics for a couple of years now….. both could have used another year in college.
JD Davison would have 2 years of eligibility left if he didn't leave early.

Dioubate showed some really good things last night too.
He had a green, bull in a china shop look to him last night. Not surprising from a freshman big. But he's a straight up fricking dawg. He can learn the position and become more comfortable. But you can't teach effort. So far, he's looking like a score ranked around 100. His development is gonna be fun to watch.

Grant "MotherFrickin" Nelson! Entirely too skilled and I literally have no clue why he's in college...the heck with doing it versus top competition. You can't teach what he has.
Once he gets comfortable...put some RESPECT ON HIS NAME.
Mark Sears bout to take off just watch. He calms the team when he's running the show.
Aaron Estrada can literally score at will. That dude is like playing Russian roulette with a fully loaded gun offensively.
Jarin Stevenson is a better shooting Noah Clowney. He's not as skilled defensively as Clowney but he has the potential to be decent to good.
Agree with all of this. Sears, Estrada, and Nelson will be our big 3 all season. I expect Nelson to be the guy we go to when we've got to get a bucket. Stevenson looks a ton like Clowney, shoots better, but isn't as bouncy. He could easily develop into the 4th option. Sam struggled getting open last night. Looked a liitle sluggish. Morehead was in his jock all night and not helping off of him. The new bigs have a long way to go physically. But this team is going to be a lot of fun to watch. I love the new wrinkle of pressing full court all game.

Really enjoyable opening night last night when we saw so many other struggle wins or straight up losses.
The hype regarding the transfers are real. Both could be All-SEC by the end of the year and both are perfect fits for this system.
I love the Estrada/Sears backcourt. They're driving the lane with intention and look assertive with the ball in their hands, they're not just dribbling the air out of the ball every possession.
Stevenson looks good already offensively but defense he got lost quite a few times, same with Walters. Experience will help improve their performances. Cosby looked good in his first action, if he keeps shooting like that he could carve out a nice role.
Main concern comes in the interior. Rebounding could be a struggle for us this year after being spoiled by our numbers last season, also felt like Morehead St got way too man easy looks around the rim. Love the offense but the defense needs to progress if we want to go deep in March.
Extremely small sample size so far obviously but a lot more things to like than dislike. Excited to be in town for the game Friday night.

Can't wait to get back in there Friday night myself.
Several of my friends have kids at UA now and it's much easier giving the tix out to them these days than in the past. They don't like standing in that huge line to get in.
16 game home winning streak.

Google reveals nothing. Is it a one off neutral site game? Maybe one of the coaches has a history with the arena and suggested it. Pearl spent a lot of time in that part of the country early in his career.

Auburn is playing Baylor because it's giving them exposure. I think it's the only game on TV tonight. Apparently it's a nice venue as well.
It's like the Chick Fila kickoff on a Thursday if instead of Atlanta it was in the middle of nowhere.

I'll say one thing, in the clip i saw of the post game handshake, overall it was friendly and respectful. It was firm handshakes or daps. But it seemed like every Morehead player have Nelson a little hug. They were way more exuberant then with the other players. They were definitely giving him plenty of respect.

Like I understand some of the draft feedback concerns, but surely there had to be some kind of miscommunication and a bunch of teams picking mid to late first were really disappointed that he came back.
If someone was gonna grab him in the late first, he wouldn't have came to Bama. I remember watching a scouting video on him a couple months back. He shot 27% from 3 last year. And that was against weak competition. He also was very inefficient when teams forced him to his left side. While he's got great body control and handles for his size, in the NBA, the quickness and physicality is more likely to neutralize his strengths.
I'm guessing he probably didn't dominate at the combine workouts. So while teams might've rushed a late 2nd, he'd probably end up on a 2 way contract. By coming back to college, and playing for a top program with an NBA style, the potential is there to greatly improve his stock, earning him more money on the long run.

Missed the game but caught the highlights. Sounds like we have some players. I was worried this would be transition year with all the talent that was lost.
Do we have another stud freshmen this year? Just how bad is Morehead State though?

If Walters figures it out (he seemed off last night), imagine the potential of this team. You would have Stevenson, Nelson and Walters all at 6-9 or above out there with the ability to knock down threes. Good luck defending that.
