All the first choice coach, you get this coach blah blah blah is ridiculous.

One, there is a difference between a coach turning down a job because they are scared of challenge/following the Goat vs turning down a job cause it is a crap job at a second tier school with meddling boosters and fat chicks.

Second every candidate had the same damn agent who as was contacting everyone at the same time and using this position to leverage raises for all his guys.

I still can't believe people care about what other fans think of or how they perceive our coaching hire/search especially with the long history of awful hires 95% of college teams have.

If it is about Norvell then that would seem like there was a booster who preferred Norvell and is salty we went with KDB.

I personally would rather have the guy who took a program from the dregs to a national time game nearly overnight and isn’t in a recruiting hotbed. If KDB can use either the Alabama brand and/or great recruiting coaches to keep us near the top in recruiting then we should be more than fine.

Norvell winning at FSU in a god awful ACC while Florida and Miami are a shite show doesn’t impress me. His entire team getting boo boo face and no showing the bowl game didn’t impress me either.

Everyone had their thoughts on who they wanted. My first choice wasn’t even a real candidate. So from the booster level if they thought they had someone locked in with whatever the behind the scenes bullshite they do then those types often feel like we “dropped the ball” instead of just going with someone else.

We’ll see how it plays out. So far I’m cautiously optimistic. Holding a great deal of this team together is encouraging after such a monumental change.

KDB is the guy. Buy the ticket, take the ride

Dude, you are one of the ones who should know me well enough. Aren't we still friends on FB? I haven't looked at it in forever because I never use it, but we used to be.

You've already suggested that the University, Byrne and DeBoer should be diminished. Thankfully, you've so bungled the matter that no one can take you seriously. If you care about the University, you should be glad.

I will just add: Opinion: DeBoer is twice the coach that Norvell is, in fact, he is likely the best Xs and Os coach in the country, definitely better than Smart and better than Sarkisian, whom he beat in each of the last 2 years with less than half the talent, as he did with Lanning and Riley; Fact: Byrne had been looking at DeBoer for a couple of years.

The University did a great job and thus far, things have turned out better than anyone could have reasonably hoped.

Hey man. Yes for sure I know we’re both old heads on here haha. I think I knew you back before even this board.

My fb is not active anymore either but yeah we’re still friends on there when it is active. I know you’re good people and you’ve been through it all being a Bama fan from before it was so fun to be.

I def know you well enough to know you don’t just put stuff out there. I was just trying to bridge the gap between what I’m thinking it might’ve been and get folks to realize that on a coaching change there’s going to be all kind of stuff like this.

It’s been quite a while since we’ve had a coaching search. This board would’ve been a full Sonic fist fight in the early 2000s

Yeah, it was back in like 06, 07. With some of the X-Files/Wooly guys. I actually think we met on another site that predated Wooly, but I can't remember what it was for the life of me.

I think it was one that came after the dumb al dot com forums became complete garbage. There were a couple people that decided to have a private board back way back in the day. It ended up
Mostly being OT stuff because it wasn’t much fun talking Darby up the middle for 3

Yeah, that's the place. Can't remember what it was called. But there were only what, 15 regulars on it? if that.

BTW, Fed is banned from posting but saw that you posted and told me to say hi.

Hahaha. I don’t think there’s a Bama board he’s not banned from.

Tidespeak was the name. Just came to me when I remembered going to the meetup for moonshine and ribs. What a time to be alive

So y’all are FB boys from way back and you ask Sandkhan to vouch for you here cause you are so OG no one knows you, but you won’t even tell him your secret squirrel insider booster info?

You are a joke dude.

I was just reading the post and came to give my thoughts on KDB and the way a lot of insider information goes during coaching changes. I don’t post much but still lurk and wanted to hop in with a quick thought I have.

Otherwise I don’t have a dog in the hunt. I’m glad we have KDB over who it seems like the only other candidate was and I do know VaBama(as well as lots of others here) from way back and I kinda think the best path to getting back to normal discussion is just to get back into it

Unless y’all wanna keep mothefricking each other til A day

He just said his FB is deactivated. So I have no way to message him outside of here. If I did, yeah, I probably would tell him.

Okay, let's get this thread back on track!

Here's some footage of Austin Mack training back in CA during Spring Break: Twitter Video

He's got an...interesting throwing motion. Would you call that even 3/4s or less (3/5s? )? I know he's really tall, but I wonder if tipped passes are a concern with that throwing motion.

At 6’6” you can get away with those angles. He could throw it like a slow pitch soft ball and still have higher release than Bryce did. Haha

This is also the Mahomes effect. We’re going to see a lot more QBs experimenting with untraditional type motions.

Sort of like Curry changed a lot of what is going on with players coming up in AAU who would rather jack a 3 than take a layup. D linemen will need to get back to making them pay. Right now a lot are so focused on pressures because batted balls don’t get you big contracts.

The thing that gets me is I've always heard QB coaches say you want the arm full outstretched, with no bend in the elbow at the time of release, to maximize velocity. Kid has quite an arm to generate the power he does with that release. Closer to a classic pitcher release than modern QB. If he can spin it with accuracy and touch, don't touch it. More likely to make it worse.

What is everyone’s take on the SI story of former Vandy QB Mo Hasan saying the mafia is fixing SEC games?

Personally, I find it a little hard to believe that a career backup at freaking Vandy was offered $300K.

To me, it sounds like this guy is pissed he never was good enough to get any NIL money and now is making crap up so that he can hopefully get some kind of book and movie deal.

Having said that, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the mob was bribing refs to throw games, like the 2022 Bama-UT game where so many HORRIBLE or as I like say “magical” calls that ALWAYS went Tennessee’s way.
