This has been worrisome. None of these dudes seem any better now than they were 2 years ago.

I'd say the pilot light under Bo's seat has been officially lit. The question is now when do we turn up the gas?

No. 9 Florida Cranks Five Home Runs in 13-6 Victory Over Alabama

*7 of the 13 RBI’s came with 2 outs

*Tamez appeared to have hurt his foot or ankle in his final at bat - that’s all we need

Baseball is rife with coaches that dont think outside the box. They run their practices in the same ol fashion that their coaches did: stretch and throw, fungo/bullpens, BP, situational hitting/mini scrimmage. If you arent out-recruiting everyone else, you arent going to win. Right now, Bama is not able to outrecruit Ole Miss, State, UF, Vandy, LSU, and Arkansas by just name
recognition, facilities, and atmosphere.

If I was hired as coach the very first thing id do is try to beef up attendance, especially by students(Free (good)food, raffles for cool prizes, games, snow cone machine, whatever). Id tell the admin to sell normal concession food and drinks at cost, and take any losses out of the baseball budget or my salary(or id kiss as many donor butts as possible to raise money)

Id hire the best S&C coach I possibly could, not just a guy that was conveniently around when I started(as happens with most baseball coaches).

Id recruit like a maniac and would sell those kids that are teetering between pro and college(this is where S&C comes into mind).

Id also run an unorthodox style of practice(I could geek out here but wont).

NIL, id "facilitate" team type sponsorships that id use to reward the guys with things that would build team chemistry(ex: weekly cookouts with prime cut ribeyes)

An extraordinary effort is needed to win here because frankly, the admin and donors dont really care. They are fine with teetering along like we do now. Itd take a coach that really wanted the challenge.

Really?
When Wells had Alabama rolling in the mid to late '90s, our attendance ranked in the top-5 every year!
"Build it, and they will come!"

Things changed. Other teams improved their facilities while Bama did nothing. The scholarship situation shifted the game, placing schools in states without lotto scholarships at a huge disadvantage. Most people are not aware of this. Our starting shortstop when I played...was on like a quarter scholarship. Maybe two guys had full rides.

We did build it...a brand new stadium. Attendance is ok, not bad...but heres the thing: baseball is kinda boring to watch to most people. You can dislike it but it wont change the fact that you have to have draws other than the game itself to bring people to ballgames. It needs to be a social event.

I'm not arguing your ideas, but I firmly believe that the potential crowds are still there, and like so many of the other SEC teams have proven, fielding a winner will fill the stadium.

Likewise im not disagreeing with you either. Winning is the huge draw...that said, Bama is far far behind already. Just getting a few more people in the stands before the program has been turned around will tremendously help recruiting. Players wanna play where there is energy and enthusiasm. Doing the things I mentioned isnt at the expense of winning. It doesnt require that you divert effort away from your team, in fact there are lots of well paid people on staff at the University who would gladly take care of all that stuff. Im saying attack from every possible angle.

Football is pretty much the only sport in the SEC where years of losing won't have a pronounced negative effect on attendance. Baseball games are, for the most part, a family friendly event. If we didn't fricking suck, attendance would be better. The Alabama fanbase has a good track record of turning out as long as the team is worth watching.

I think everyone can agree on that. People dont wanna watch a bad team. I dont think Alabama is a bad team or that Bohannon is a bad coach, it just so happens that this league is stacked with great teams.

That said, we should make coming to games as attractive as possible..win or lose. Are there more things we can do to make the fan experience a good one win or lose. I say absolutely

Starting to wonder if we will even make a regional. That would be a step backwards.

We won’t even make Hoover so you can go ahead and forget about a regional

It would require a monumental conference effort to make a regional based off the OOC results
