Well if you are basing everything on three games you are correct . However, the overall program has some roadblocks to overcome

Devastating series for the Tide.

11-5 Loss at South Carolina Caps Disappointing Weekend for Alabama Baseball

The Crimson Tide is now next-to-last in the SEC West after being swept on the road by the Gamecocks.

Absolutely but scholarships didn’t cause us to give two games away at MSU, forget how to hit against UGA, suck arse completely against USC, give up 0-2/1-2 home runs consistently , not play out outfield IN with no outs and a runner on third in the 9th inning Thursday, etc. I could go on and on and on. We are better than the product we put on the field right now and that falls back to coaching. It looks like the players quit on him.

We’ll see what the next three series hold.

There are very real obstacles that have to factor into decision making. These obstacles do not excuse Bo underachieving with talented rosters the past two years. This team has the talent to be a top 25 team, yet likely won't make a regional. That's a coaching issue.

And, again none of Bo's defenders can articulate a reason to believe the program is moving in the right direction. The argument for retaining him seems to be that we should just delay the inevitable another year or two, and are mostly being made by the same people who supported Gaspard/Grant/Avery until the better end. We know how this story is gonna end. It's better for the program if we end it after this season instead of waiting too long to make a change. Would be curious to hear SOG's thoughts on this.

There is currently one defender. Get it right at least.

This years team has regressed dramatically. It’s the same mistakes week after week — to many runners left on base, pitchers being left in for an inning to long and just the inability to hit the freaking baseball. Bo shouldn’t have a job this evening when he returns to Tuscaloosa.

Suffers indeed….

Baseball Suffers 11-5 Loss at South Carolina on Saturday

The Gamecocks scored in six of the eight innings in the series finale

Alabama baseball came up short on Saturday, suffering an 11-5 loss to South Carolina. The Crimson Tide is now 25-20 on the season and 9-12 in Southeastern Conference play.

Alabama took the early lead with two runs in the first, but South Carolina came right back with three in the home half. The Gamecocks then added six runs across the third, fourth and fifth innings to put the game out of reach. Alabama continued to fight, using a three-run home run from Dominic Tamez in the sixth to make it a 9-5 ballgame, but the Tide would get no closer. SC added single tallies in the seventh and eighth for the eventual 11-5 final.

South Carolina starter Will Sanders (6-2) picked up the win, allowing five runs over 7.0 innings on Saturday. Grayson Hitt (4-2) suffered the loss for UA.

From Head Coach Brad Bohannon
"Our kids were ready to go today. The energy, the intent and the focus was outstanding. They really brought it and we were hot out of the gate, but we just didn't pitch well enough today. We've certainly had a lot of games where we were inefficient offensively and didn't do enough with the bat, but today we just didn't pitch it well."

Same shite different day. Blabbing at the mic after an arse whipping. Poorly coached team. Don’t wait until the end of the season, do it now.

99% of people ITT support a change in leadership. We just don’t think it’s going to happen in 2022. Bohannon is going to get one more season to show something.

Idk if he gets another year if he doesn’t make a regional. IMO that’s what it comes down to.

Bryne hired him though. And obviously knows the challenges of this job. I just think he hangs on another year.

I can't pinpoint it but I think you guys have summed it up pretty well. In general, the collection of raw talent is absolutely better than the product. And as a program that desperately has to rely on scouting raw talent and developing it, we are sorely lacking in the development category. The inconsistency is just maddening, and the majority of guys being the same players as juniors and seniors as freshman is a huge problem.

Bottom line we just aren't good enough consistently enough. Who are the leaders on this team? Who is the consistent rock (both on offense/defense and the staff) that we can fall back on after a rough 2 game stretch? They don't exist. And for a team that isn't super young, that's a huge frickin problem. We have to be the upperclassmen led team that makes every play, doesn't walk guys, takes advantage of others mistakes and in general is just the type of team nobody wants to play to win in this league.

And we just aren't that at all. It's not an easy ask, but it's what is required. And we aren't even close. It's incredibly frustrating.

It’s frustrating in that I really thought he had the program going in the right direction. Had the terrific start the COVID year. Made a regional last year. And then we get this.
And the thing is, the league is down. State, Ole Miss, Fla, Vandy, all have the worst teams they have had in years. LSU is nothing special. No way this team should be next to last in the West right now.

I think it comes down to the next couple of weekends. If we string some wins together and sneak into a regional, I think he gets another year.

I'm not convinced he's anywhere close to being let go. But that's just gut feeling.

I’m not saying Alabama is anywhere near the Georgia job. In terms of advantages. But it took Scott Stricklin 6 seasons to have a winning campaign at Georgia. They seem to be a perennial top 20 team now. Just food for thought.

Hiring and firing is just full of missteps and what could have been.

Agree. The staff has to change, though. That should be demanded.
