All the people calling for DeBoer’s head will be surprised next year when they see what he can do with a competent QB.

Maybe. Or maybe he can’t coach at an SEC level. All we know so far is he won at a lower level, won a bunch of close games 1 year at Washington, and is incapable of pulling a qb to try something different.

Now, why Milroe was still playing as of 15 minutes ago is a question that needs to be answered, but I'm not worried about next year or the following at this point

Judging by the frustration of the receivers, it's safe to assume we can put the "team will quit on any other QB" myth to bed.

Three of those losses were 100% on one player. It's pretty rare that can be said in a team sport like football.

Then show me the receipts on Milroe being guaranteed to start as part of his NIL deal and I’ll grant him a pass.

If not it’s the job of a coach to address players who aren’t performing and he didn’t.

I’m really, really salty about this loss. Didn’t even get Simpson on the field to know what if anything we have with him.

Absolutely a lost season.

The only true coaching question, in my mind, is why on earth was Milroe playing and why didn't we bring anyone else in after his atrocious start to the game?

At some point we’ll know, but my guess is it was NIL deal… Saban knew it, Byrne knew it, and KDB accepted it.., that’s the delusion I want to live in and all I can think and all I can hope for…otherwise I’ll HATE KDB and I want to give him a chance… albeit a very limited chance.

Ehh I think people are just blowing off steam.

It's honestly a little sad how much this loss doesn't surprise or bother me that much. There was a time it would've ruined my day/week/month but NIL and the portal, along with the current state of the game have just killed my interest and overall investment in the sport.

I'm still happy when they win, but that's about it.

Yes I respond to specific posts that’s how message boards work.

I’ve never done that here or anywhere else. I’m just not afraid to say what needs to be said before half the fanbase is ready to accept it because they wait to hear it from people in the media instead of watching the game objectively.

Saban took Milroe and a pretty much equally talented team to a 12-2 record, SEC Championship Game win, playoff appearance, 9-0 vs SEC teams and took the eventual national champions to OT.

Coaching is the problem. There isn't any other way to look at this season. If Milroe is the problem, bench him like Saban did last year.

Three times this year I saw the coaching staff not have the team ready to play.

9-4 and broken Alabama's 16 year streak of 10 wins in a season in one year.

Saban could take that awful 2007 team and beat the hell out of this much more talented 2024 team.

This wasn't a rebuild, this was a disaster and a program alternating season.

I get that… I feel that way too… I’ve never watched less bowl games than this year…

No other reason why the greatest coach of all time would keep a guy like Milroe in all year, and a great reason for why he chose to retire.

I agree. Im super disappointed in this loss...but this entire program...players, coaches, fans(me absolutely included), needed a dose of humility.

The players and coaches now have games to point back to and say "this is what happens when you dont prepare like everyone can beat you"

Hopefully the LANK cancer is gone next year

Very fair point. This year he was still playing the LANK hand he was dealt. Next year, it's his team.

They could have pointed that out after the Vandy game. Or the Oklahoma game

Bull fricking shite, rebuild my smooth, toned arse! This isn't a goddamn rebuild. For reasons unknown to us all, the headcoach for the Alabama Crimson Tide refused to pull the worst goddamn quarterback I've seen at Alabama in fricking years.

One day all this shite will come to light. It always does.

And it blew up in his face when he benched Milroe.

This is what fans especially old-school fans don’t seem to grasp. In the NIL/portal era players have all the power, and there ain’t no “college football commissioner” coming along to restore things to what everyone thinks is the proper order.

Prime Saban could not exist in this environment and that’s why he got out of Dodge.
