Just think, there were 6 (count them) 6 WRs in that game who are now still playing in the pros - and all caught at least 1 pass: Smith, Juedy, Ruggs, Ridley, Foster, & Cam Sims.

If you REALLY want to dig deeper. Alabama had 9 guys catch passes that day. Damien Harris caught two passes. Hale Hentges actually played in the pros for two years before leaving and had a catch. Bo Scarborough had a catch as well.

So, incredibly, Alabama had 9 guys catch balls that day, and all 9 played in the pros - with ALL of the WRs (and D. Harris) still playing.

Incredible.

I've said other places before. Its the greatest WR room in history, unless Metchie becomes a first rounder, then the 2019 room would have 5 firsts, and that trumps 6 total NFL guys.

It's criminal that the 2018 team didn't win a natty. I still can't wrap my head around the turd of a game they dropped in the natty against Clemson. Both offense and defense looked like they stayed up partying and were hung over or something. No focus, no intensity, just lost the whole game.

At least in 2016 I can understand that Hurts was young and honestly a pretty below average passer at that point in his career and the defense finally just got worn out. 2018 has no such excuse fo that turd of a game.

Don’t remind me of that game with Clemson. It was my first Bama game in 25 years. Had great seats behind our sideline. A National Championship game. The anticipation was thrilling. Thought for sure we would ream Dabo And then the game started. Biggest disappointment of all the Bama games I have watched live.

Red Zone offense was trash and Venables was stealing signs like a mofo.

Looking back that 2018 team was far superior to Clemson in terms of talent. But man I remember that team had some drama around the coaching staff that year. Def bit us

Josh Pate alluded to locker room problems in one of his shows a few months back. The talent was there but the chemistry wasn't.

Yup they were top 6 in scoring offense but 78th in red zone offense and 30th in TD%. Because they lived off the big play. That team was too talented to struggle in the RZ as much as they did.

The fact that this has never gotten a lot of mainstream traction is pretty surprising to me. It's apparently an open secret in the ACC and had been for years before Day called them out on it.

Mike Locksleys offense still sucks in the red zone. He can dial up big plays but once in the red zone he's play calling sucks. That's what separates Lane and Sark they can dial up a whole bunch of different stuff.

As others have said, the offensive coaching was so bad. Just not fair to the talent we had at the time.

That said, am I the only one that could tell by the looks on the players faces and demeanors that they were not into it?

I don’t want to hate on Tua at all, but he looked defensive instead of confident. Going into the locker room at half the whole team was slowly walking with heads down. The other team was pumped from start to finish.

I really thought that was the start of a slow decline in effort and enthusiasm similar to the other broken dynasties, but Saban did get more wind behind his sails afterwards.

Not to mention TL was throwing up crap and his receivers were catching everything.

I really want a book to come out one day that actually explains what happened in this game. It's the biggest anomaly in the Saban era.

It's insane that Saban while at Bama had never been beaten by more than 14 points somehow got smoked by 28 to a freshman qb throwing 50/50 balls to another true frosh, Justyn Ross, who hasn't done anything of note since that game

The loss also looked worse because Saban felt we had to take chances in order to keep up, and most of those chances did not pay off that game.

I can’t imagine the hate crimes that would’ve unfolded against Clemson if they played Alabama in the championship last year. That would’ve got ugly real quick.
