I haven’t been around long but it’s always been like that since I signed up. It’s just a constant troll fest fueled by fans from every team.
I find the best way to have an actual discussion is on the team boards but can’t access all of them.

Sure it will. Particularly shitty periods aren’t uncommon but once the LSU fans get tired it’ll be back to the same trolls as usual who aren’t that bad.

The only period when it isn't insufferable is football season, and that's just because there are 200 things going on.
The summer will be a train wreck. You can't post any sort of curious discussion about a team or players or who is good/bad without the same 7 people jumping in and smearing shite all over the walls and then the same 7 jumping in to respond in kind.

The Rant always goes by seasons. Right now Bama sucks, dynasty over, Bama cheats is what drives that board. That's mostly being led by pissed off corndogs, IMO.

It's not only LSU people, but the SEC Rant's biggest problem always has been and always will be crossover from the Tiger Rant. LSU has, by a very, very wide margin, the worst internet fanbase in all of college athletics. The only group even approaching their level of awfulness is probably Ohio State. That's not to say that all of their fans are terrible. IRL they really aren't that bad at all, but 90% of the Tiger Rant is straight trash. I don't mean the content either, even though that is awful too. I'm talking about the posters.

I guess we'll just disagree. The last time we had this season it was much more entertaining and much less "DER OHIO STATE DER".

Yep. The reason I discovered this site in the first place was because they sent some from the Tiger Rant to porn bomb TideSports leading up to signing day 2008 when they thought they were getting Julio. When they realized he wasn't coming they turned to attacking TideSports.
I do see SoG's point that it's not all on the LSU fans. That said, the forum would run much smoother if LSU fans had the same rules applied to them as other SEC fans do.
I haven't had access to Tiger Rant since 2010. I wish they would start doing the same to LSU fans who come to SEC Rant for the sake of trolling.

Also, it's not that there is trolling that makes it suck. Trolling is great and hilarious when it's done well. It's the fact that every single thread is invaded by D- level trolling, generally the same stupid, unfunny troll over and over again.

That's just the nature of the site. You have to know when to visit and when to avoid. My hibernation from the Rant starts soon and then the only time I visit is to post something because without sports going on the content goes to complete shite, even worse than right now.
Big Brother starts up soon. It runs from mid June to September. Once that gets going, the only board I'll be on is the Movie/TV Board. Me and Cobra got it up to 821 pages last year. Y'all should join even if you don't watch the show.

It sucks. I do not post there anymore. I do pop in every once in awhile to read William Taylor's latest trolls though. Even though we are his main target I enjoy his work. There are worse coonass posters than him.

You guys are right about the bottom level trolling . . . it is abysmal and probably the main reason I am put off with it.

The movie board isn't good and it has some really good threads, especially in the summer. The outdoor board isn't full of good guys. I go over there a lot and just read.

This is funny because I just left another forum for the exact same reasons like 4 days ago. I had been a member of it for like 6 years, posted on it daily and enjoyed it.
