To me I feel like CNS could get whomever he wanted. Seems like a good opportunity for anyone to show case their skills at the highest level with high level recruits. I agree with you on the recruiting part, CNS seems to all ways nail down good recruiters though.

I’m very anxious this year to see who’s getting hired. Happy New Year!

Flood may be good with experienced group.. but not necessary good at developing young talent.. So maybe Saban could be looking for a teacher, someone who can develop young guys.

Anybody know if Barrett Jones is interested in coaching? Dude won the Outland and the Rimington and played every position on the o-line while at Bama. Also has gotten some visibility as a broadcaster and has 3 natty rings and 2 sec rings he could flash on the recruiting trail.

I think he does well enough without having to work his arse off every day of the week.

He just got a regular gig on ESPNU radio so not sure he wants to coach with his broadcasting career just taking off. If you just listen to him, he sounds a lot like Cole Cubelic.

Footballscoop reporting Tom Clements is retiring so I guess he can be taken off the list

He is 67 afterall. He was the starting QB for Notre Dame in the 1973 Sugar Bowl against Alabama.

Richer than Luke Kuechly or Ed Reed? B/c both of those guys went into coaching righter after ending their HOF careers.

quote:

Just an FYI here, but we are aware of all the discussion involving coaching changes. We aren't ignoring, just focusing on the Heisman, awards and prep for NC game. The UA staff continues to focus on the game and have been told by numerous sources Saban isn't worried about any moves until after the game on Monday. Not a shock as it's been his MO at Alabama. Saban usually meets with his entire staff after the season.

Here are a few things we have heard with some having already been reported. Bear in mind these things go back and forth often (see Mike Bobo to So Car and then to Auburn), so there could be changes. As things stand now:

- We do expect Kyle Flood to leave for Texas as reported barring something unexpected. We are told he will be OC. Promotional move makes sense.

- The UA replacement obviously will be a priority for Saban after the game, but we are told he won't be in a hurry. Again getting the right one is the priority. Which he seems to be well within his wheelhouse. We are told there is a lot of excitement about the talent that will be on campus next year on that side of the ball and there will be a lot of quality candidates.

- Multiple sources indicate Bill O'Brien will be under consideration. He was in town for a few days and is leaving this week and could be at the game. How involved is to be determined in our opinion. O'Brien is likely to have other options as well, so both parties are in the starting phase here. O'Brien was expected in Tuscaloosa for a visit before the Sark news broke. But we aren't sure if Sark leaving played a role in his visit. Saban knew Sark was leaving before the media did.

- There is plenty of buzz that Holmon Wiggins will also go to Texas. Sources tell BOL they believe its likely he will, but that one could still be up in the air somewhat. If he leaves it's likely to be with Saban's blessings.

- Two good sources told us they do not expect Jeff Banks or Karl Scott to head to Texas. Nothing definite here but not hearing they are leaving at this stage.

- Checked on the Bo Davis to Texas report and it sounds like Texas has shown interest but so have other schools and NFL teams. He's likely to have options. Doesn't mean he won't end up in Austin but this could have some twists and turns. But Davis was at Texas a few years ago.

We've heard other rumors but nothing substantial enough to report or comment on at this stage.

This BOL Hot Board is hilarious. They're clearly just making stuff up. I mean I like those guys, and they aren't presenting it as any sort of inside knowledge that they have so it isn't as if they are trying to act like they know anything, but it still makes me laugh.

HOT BOARD 4.0

- Kendal Briles
- Hugh Freeze
- Adam Gase
- Graham Harrell
- Tom Herman
- Freddie Kitchens
- Jeff Lebby (who just signed a new deal?)
- Chip Long
- Phil Longo
- Bill O'Brien

Welp, alright, that's a helpful list

I only take Chip Long as serious and I’m not sure that would even happen.

I know Saban has talked to or interviewed Long before but I hope it is not him honestly

Chip Long may be a great OC but when a guy is (a) moved on from by his employer for someone else and then (b) ends up taking the same level job at a lower level after a year of being an analyst.....

It could just be circumstantial, but you have to wonder.

You can take Yurcich off your wish list. He has replaced the OC at Penn State.

The lack of urgency by Saban is pretty much on par with past openings and his process for filling them, especially while he’s still vying for a title.

That being said, the longer the replacement process takes, the more likely I think it is to end up with a hire that has NFL ties. By late January, most of the NCAA positions that opened or made changes will be filled, leaving that pool of candidates slightly depleted by new hires or extensions, Lebby, e.g.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Saban had already let his intentions be known to certain coaches and was just waiting until the season ended to start working on it though.

At this point I'd almost be shocked if it isn't O'Brian. It seems like Saban was "testing" him out this past week like he did with Kiffin. And then apparently O'Brian stayed longer than what was originally planned. I also haven't really seen where he's interviewed for any of the open NFL OC jobs.

If Jeff Fisher is actually interested in the UT job, it's probably his to lose.

I think that would be a hugely popular hire in Knoxville.
