As I've said before, Gase might be the shittiest coach on the planet, but you guys saying this stuff about Tannehill are being ridiculous.
I warned you that it was a biased perspective. Tannehill had plenty of other issues in Miami, injuries included, but Gase didn’t do anything to help the cause. If I’m trying to be nice, Gase contributed to ruining the perspective that Tennehill was a starting caliber QB in the NFL.

I just want to point out that the Bama OC position is a much better job than most NFL OC positions.
- It pays more than most all of them. The average of NFL coordinators is 1.5 million.
- It is almost a guaranteed success for a competent football guy
- It will probably result in a top tier college job within a fairly short period
- it carried at least the possibility of following Saban in the best Head Coaching Job in America.
- it allows the person to learn under a living legend from inside the most successful college program in history.
Now looking at the Bill Obrien situation, his alternative is likely sitting out for a year or two before taking a mid tear pro OC job... At best.
Alternatively, after a stint at Bama, he is likely on every schools list when prestigious jobs come open.
As for recruiting, if Obrien wants to succeed in his career, he will have to be a big time recruiter as a head coach. If the ambition to succeed is still there, he would be silly to forsake recruiting
Now here is what is happening. The minute Bill knew Sarc was gone, he attached himself to this program. All the advantages I just mentioned, he has already figured out. He is in the process of selling Saban the idea that he's the right guy and has the right vision.
If offered, he will definitely accept.

His stats in 24 starts with Gase.
65.7% Completion

36 TD/21 INT
40.2 QBR
His stats in 26 starts in TN.
67.9% Completion
252.35 YPG
55 TD/13 INT
72.9 QBR
Obviously the coach isn’t the only contributing factor, but let’s not act like Gase was doing Tannehill any favors. He may not have ruined him, but... actually, he ruined him.

Imma defer to Saban on this but trust me when I say there are plenty of people around that remember the near miraculous job BOB did at Penn State. If he replaces Sark and the offense and recruiting doesn’t miss a beat, we’ll be lucky to hang on to him for a second year.

He might stay, but I won't be surprised at all if he leaves.
So I was lurking on the Texas FB sub Reddit and some of them think there’s a slim, though super slim, chance he transfers. Apparently some Longhorns insider/football reporter thinks it can happen.
I just can’t see it though.

Has Ehlinger even declared for the draft? Is he even a prospect, much less a high round prospect? Sark even said the kid had a decision to make about improving his status and playing next year. Unless I’m wrong, Ehlinger would be a fool to leave this year and miss an opportunity to improve his stock with Sark coaching him.
I find it highly unlikely that BY would follow him to Austin into a potentially unknown QB situation rather than being the presumed starter at Bama next season.

I know this is the easy answer but I truly trust Saban on these.
He hired Kiffin and Sark when 90% of the world laughed and thought they were jokes. Now they are 2 of the 5-6 most praised offensive coaches in the country.
Exactly. Not many were happy with sark at first and look what he did.
so fans may not be thrilled with Gase or BOB, but his track record has shown he will not mess this up
so in short, I am not worried at all

Ehlinger declared for the draft 2 days ago.

What is the consensus on whether Sark would even encourage that? I know coaches have done that kind of thing in the past, and I'm sure there's debate about the ethics of it, but how likely is it that Sark would actually encourage Young to stay at Bama regardless?

If Chan Gailey shows up on the short list. I may punch air at least once.

Curious decision for a guy that’s projected as a 5th/6th rounder, but he’s not getting any younger. Take a leap and hope you make a practice squad and work your way in, I suppose.
I don’t think it affects the decision for BY staying in Tuscaloosa anyway, as I’ve seen little of it even mentioned, but I’ve seen crazier things happen.

I imagine we'll hear more about OC next week. Anyone know if Bill OBrien is still in town?
Posted on 1/6/21 at 10:31 am to Panthers4life
O'Brien has been seen at Bama practices. We'll probably hear whether that continues this week.

Bryce Young is staying at Bama.

Another year of massive staff turnover is coming, and unfortunately its on our best side of the ball. Plus, the distraction all of this creates for the national championship game.
Is it bad that I hope Texas still sucks under Sark? I say that because you know the Texas boosters and fans are loving the idea that hiring guys from Bama could hurt Bama.

Not worried about who Saban hires really bc I know it will be a fit for what we do. I just hope Hank is right about BY is my only worry . But I am a worrier by nature

Damn. Never been more wrong about a Saban hire lol, but that's a real loss. Had to figure it was happening though, what with him being dawgs with Sark and, most importantly, wiki having been on top of it for a few days now.

Flood may be harder to replace than Sark. Good OL coaches who can recruit and develop don’t grow on trees. Then, how many of them want to work under Saban’s microscope?
