Guy is a combined 6-0 vs Lanning, Sark and Riley. I guarantee you the anal assassins shitting on Deboer consider the others "the three best coaches in football today."
Granted beating UGA is going to be a cumbersome task. Even if he fails to do it, it still doesn't mean he's Chizik 2.0. I've argued from the get-go that UGA will be the new Alabama. But as long as he consistently beats our rivals, I could give a frick what UGA does.
Remember: Deboer has never lost to Cal and USC. Freeze and Kelly can't say the same...

What am I missing in the article? It’s a lack of respect because he picked UGA to win and said Bama might be favored if the greatest coach of all time was still coaching?

No one team is going to dominate consistently in the new playoff format. Especially with Texas in the conference now.

Yes, I am outraged. It's ridiculous to think Deboer, in year one, might lose a close game to Georgia. I'll be writing someone a strongly-worded email.

DeBoer isn't Saban. Nobody is. However, DeBoer is an outstanding coach.

Let's don't do this. I think Deboer was the best hire possible. But, saban was the greatest to ever do it.

Without a doubt, but an overall upgrade across the staff + a downgrade (I hate to call it minor, because who knows) at HC might come to a wash, or perhaps better, than the closing years of the Saban era.
