He said first time in 3 seasons of DeBoer that Alabama made a team quit with the run game. Russell was on fire. Didn't really spend any time on defense.

Tight ends are a huge part of the running game success. Pin and pull is also a huge key to the success.

OL blocking pretty sound. TEs blocking improved. Team got better as game went on. QB showing improvement and extending plays. D adjusted. We made them quit.

It helps to actually have a run game. I really hope DeBoer and Grubb have had the realization that developing a physical run game is practically a necessity in SEC football. Not to get all rundadayumnbawl with it, but seriously, you're not going to win shite in this league if you can't run the damn ball. It's just too hard to sustain drives without the ability to avoid obvious passing downs. If you're always in 2nd and 10 or 3rd and 8 it's going to be a slog.

I remember LSU quitting one of those years when Milroe was running up and down the field on them.
I think we were kicking their arse on defense too. And I dont remember the exact play. But they definitely quit one year, and i think it was in BR.

If Russell plays like he did in this game the rest of the season we are going to go far. We know the defense is better than what they did in that game, I'm just pleased with the offensive progress. Need to start faster though

Thank you. I'm real excited about our run game. The o line just needs to show improvement each week. It's a long season and they should be blocking like a well oiled machine at the end .

These throws by Keelon Russell were pretty damn good. Has a lot to build off from that game

Having a stable of legitimate Backs is the biggest change.
Yes, I see more gap schemes (yes even some pin-n-pull), but they ran pin-n-pull last year and let Brailsford kickout and the BSG block back.
The biggest difference I see is that there are playmakers back there who ANY program would be fortunate to have on their roster.
Sometimes it’s the jimmies and joes and not just X’s and O’s, and Bama has some DUDES back there running the football.
Even Grubb can stick to a run game when you have Backs running like Crowell, Brown and Hill (plus KR)

The backs are better but that is not the only big difference. Another very big difference to me is the obvious gaping holes being opened that were rarely there last year and the overall less penetration the offensive line this year is allowing. Sure, we didn't have elite backs last year, but they were good enough to run through obvious holes. Even the holes we did produce last year, there was usually a free defender already in the backfield to trip him up.

Cliffs:
OL is more athletic and shows more consistent effort
TEs are more physical and delivering more dominant blocking in tandem with OL
Backs moving better than last year
Keelon is extremely athletic and can make exceptional throws
All this is giving defenses more to deal with when they previously could shut down our run game with relative ease which we’d abandon, and then key on our passing game
OL is more athletic and shows more consistent effort
