Is there a link for this? All Ive seen is message board rumors.

I cannot provide a link. But I do know it's true as far as the bad debt goes.

As far as whether Saban goes or stays I got no clue.

I've also read where some Bama boosters helped Saban with his debt by buying a portion of it. He probably has some bad debt (as most do) but I think it is grossly exaggerated.

When you make millions, what are you supposed to do with your disposable income?
You'll either blow it on frivolous junk, invest it, or save it.
more than likely, you never "use" it for your own purpose.
so if Saban invested some dough, and the deal has fallen through, it's not like his life has really changed.

So I just heard from a good friend of mine who talked to someone with ties to the board of trustees (I know right?) but it's a source I trust, whether you do or not is up to you, just more info to throw around.

/start info

Saban is pissed. When mal was alive, he treated saban like a friend. Let him know he was appreciated. Handled contract extensions like 2 guys sitting down talking business over a beer. Saban liked that chemistry.

Bill battle basically sent his latest contract extension up to his office, dropped it on his desk, and said "sign it". Supposedly this has been the demeanor since battle got there. Nick got used to basically just saying what he wanted and it got done. Period. Battle doesn't seem to be handling things in the same fashion.

Mrs Terry's comments about lack of appreciation the other day? Not about the fans. She was talking about the administration.

/end info
/start my opinion

Bill Battle will get tossed out on his arse if we lose saban because he simply wasn't handling him correctly. That's basically his main job as AD as far as the football side of it is concerned. Make saban feel good and give him anything he wants and don't ask questions or dilly dally around about it.

Ultimately I think he stays, but only after he gets his point across to the administration. People are saying he is all about the money, I think just the opposite. I think, at lest in this case, it is about the respect. He is the best thing that has happened to Alabama football since coach Bryant. He knows it and if Bill Battle comes in and wants to go the angle of "he is just another coach" then he needs to GTFO.

You very rarely, if ever, see me posting "inside info". I have never claimed to have inside sources and I can't stand people that make up shite when they have no clue what they are talking about,. But this is from someone I trust and the person he talked to about it is some one that he truly believes to be a no-bullshitter.

Take what you want from it from there.

Battle might not make it out of town alive after he is canned if he fricked this up.

Losing Mal was a bigger deal than people thought.

If this turns out to be true and he does leave, the threats to Battle will make Cade's look like pillow talk.

Mal knew that saban was the investment of his lifetime so he protected it with his life, daily. If this info is true, then battle doesn't seem to give a shite. I had my reservations about hiring such an old school old coot to act as AD, even if it was an obvious placeholder hire (I think we get Ozzie sooner than later, especially if this is true) but this could really bite us in the arse. Hard.

If it is true, and Battle is treating Saban like just another employee, then he needs to be kicked the frick out of Tuscaloosa, like RIGHT NOW.

I hope we don't lose coach due to some shitty AD not doing his job.

Yeah, but it could be nothing too. Mrs Terry's comments do seem to make more sense now though. Whatever is really going on down there, I hope we keep him, but like I said in another thread, I can't be mad at him if he leaves. He's done too much for us.

ETA: I can damn sure be mad as hell at Bill Battle though if this is true.

If the spirit of Bob Bockwrath comes back to bite us I will be so pissed, & it wouldn't be Saban's fault Bama hired a scumbag old coot as an AD and I'd support him the same way I did Stallings when he told Bockwrath to shove it.

That said, I think Saban would be gone already if he was leaving.

Robert Whitt and Saban are friends. Whitt will do what it takes to keep Nick at UA.
Bill Battle is a old school Billionare. He is used to being the boss. He is not the boss at the athletic dept. Saban is.
Ps. This make sense.

Yeah, it just seems to me like he is trying to make a point if this is true. Which I am fine with and support 100%. I just hope he makes his point soon and gets that shite over with.

If he's doing it to make a point then he's punishing the fan base too!

Was NOT happy when he got the job. Neither were family members higher up the UA food chain than me. Neither were high level booster friends.
Don't know how or why he got the job.
