Thank you for your service, Jalen Milroe. I wish you good fortune in the UFL after a brief stint in the NFL.

Even my sister who was watching the game yelled when he didn’t cut the ball north and south to get the first down. He’s a selfish pussy.

I said in the game thread that was the best blocked play we'd had the whole game & it was a loss bc Milroe has no field vision whatsoever. It's incredible that out of all the recruiting success we've had, we're starting a running QB who cant even follow his blocks. It's maddening.

I still feel that way about it. A new coach had the opportunity to tell them to pound sand and didn't. Maybe to save the recruiting class and minimize damage, but the worst case scenario has hit.
Saban should have told Milroe and his posse to f*ck off last year after the USF game.
As for Ty, the single play he got in the OU game showed me all I needed to see to know he have been splitting time. Quick drop back and release. Reciever dropped it. I don't blame Ty one bit for that.

Not being able to get Drake Maye in 2023 really set us back. Milroe would've certainly transferred and Ty Simpson would have gotten more snaps in practice leading up to starting this season.

It was a coaching job for the ages, but at what ultimate cost did it come?

A lot of physical tools but few/none of the necessary mental ones to play QB.

Thank you, SOG
That raises the more troubling part of this situation.
With this information available to coaches, the knowledge that the playbook would be limited going into the season due to his lack of development and his awful play at times, what is the true reason the coaches did not go with a different quarterback to start the season or at least use someone else in games where it's evident he's not going to get it done.
The coaching staffs going back to Saban have not been willing to pull him out and try someone different. I don't believe that Saban or DeBoer are ignorant coaches or want to lose. They have to see Milroe's issues. So, that leaves two options. Either all of the backups are expected to perform worse than Milroe or the coaches are scared to replace him.
I don't believe ALL of the backups would play worse or have such a limited playbook.
With Milroe eligible to come back, I don't have much hope they would ask him to transfer or go with someone else to start the season. Hell, our coaches haven't even been willing to pull him out of games for poor play. If they're scared to pull him out now, what would change going into year two of Deboer allowing them to pull him.

Both sets of offensive coaches (and 2 head coaches) clearly thought that in totality he was the better option for the 12 game season than Simpson. Feels like an indictment of Simpson, but who knows what the total story is.

I’m going to be honest, the idea that BoB wasn’t developing QB’s is just silly.
And yet Bryce got worse in year 2, which carried over to the NFL, after improvising and backyard footballing his way to a Heisman. Simpson, who he presumably signed off on as a recruit and coached for a year, has been a non-factor through 3 seasons. And of course Milroe is just Milroe and can't even make the most simple reads on a consistent basis. Or are you trying to suggest that the QB room was in good shape last year but Milroe succeeded in taking over the locker room despite being the only one of them who can't play the position effectively?
quote:
Saban was not ever going to let that happen
But he did. Unless you think he intentionally played his worst option at QB because of this locker room coup nonsense.
quote:
the other QB’s would not have allowed that to happen to Milroe and would’ve voiced concerns
If they're all being told the same things by the same coach, how are they going to know to do that? I'm not saying he just iced Milroe out and only took time to teach the other guys. I'm saying he failed at his job completely, with every QB on the roster, which is why we brought in fricking Tyler Buchner last season.

Fans are screaming for Simpson because they don’t think he could be any worse than Milroe and they just want to do something different.
I’d like to think that first Saban and then DeBoer would have had the guts to play Simpson if they thought he could win for them. But apparently they didn’t/don’t. Unless Milroe is the Svengali running the team as per all the gossip.

Is Ty Simpson really so bad that he couldn’t beat out that idiot who is starting for us now ? I will never believe that Ty was given a fair shot of winning the job last year. Saban should have told Milroe and his posse to f*ck off last year after the USF game. Milroe has ruined this program. Might as well find a new hobby to enjoy.
Why would he do it last season when he refused to do it in 2013?
It was a pretty poorly kept secret that Kiffin wanted to start Coker over Sims. I personally believe that to be the case, but because Coker was new and hadn't paid his dues and Sims was a team favorite, the offense made it clear during the off season that they wouldn’t play for Coker.
Even the GOAT has to yield to locker room politics and last season wasn't the first time Saban did it.

I'm starting to think Mack is the guy next season. Simpson & Lonergan were kept for depth and roster continuity.

I would think just from the standpoint of being able to use over 50% of the playbook, you'd want a different guy out there. From all accounts, Milroe is only 20-25%
I MIGHT could see it if that guy didn't cost you games with turnovers but that's not the case with Milroe. Doesn't make any fricking sense.

This is SHOCKING
that his completion percent is over 50

Everyone thinks a coach, even the GOAT, can be R. Lee Ermey in Full Metal Jacket in the locker room …

Remember that handshake deal Milroe did with Latham at the start of every first series? Then watch Latham basically step over Simpson after he was sacked.

Drake Maye decommiting in 2021 is the reason we ended up with Milroe in the first place.

No doubt. He was all about appeasing Terrion Arnold, Milroe and the rest of the LANK posse as opposed to ridding the program of the politics that has dragged us down so far. Hope that the fans boo #4 on Saturday.
