Was just a thought and an opinion

How quickly we forget it was Jalen who then showed up in the SECCG the next year, saving a playoff run. In which Tua failed to score in the entire 2nd half, threw a pick six and overall failed to get the offense going.

Against LSU this year he fumbles without being touched inside LSU's 10 and then he throws an interception right before the half setting up LSU taking a 20 pt lead instead of just a 13 pt lead into the half. 15 seconds left in the half.
playing on an injured leg from the UT game. A healthy Tua would have beaten the LSU defense to the goal line on that play in the first quarter.

Don't know about the scope part, but he was injured during the Georgia game.

It sucks he was injured so much, it might have turned out better. But what actually happened is just a different story. He was a great QB for us and 2nd and 26 will be epic forever. I'm not trying to put him down or anything. I'm just saying that it's not really fair to say Saban made a mistake by not starting him as a true freshman over Jalen.

anyone know if there is a projected 2 deep yet. I counted about 50 players who saw PT this year. Some got major PT and some minor like Lia who will be on the 2020 two deep

yeah. As I have said before, I'm not sure there is such a thing as injury prone but the poor guy has definitely had really bad injury luck. I hope that is all behind him and he has a long and productive NFL career.
Looking ahead now to the 2020 season. Will be interesting, at least, as to how the qb depth chart shakes out.

Nick has to find some players on defense that can make some plays and stop the better teams on 3rd down. We were owned when it counted against good teams on 3rd down.

absolutely. Speaking of injury luck above, hopefully we won't have to deal with that so much on defense too.
I'm not really a Golding fan but just having more play makers will allow for improvement.

So it looks like Pete Golding is going to stay after all?

I may have less inside info than anybody on the board so I have no clue but I do know that there are sometimes changes after signing day in February and before spring practice.

You are right. He just missed out on being a 4 star.
While he was a 3-star on the composite rankings, which many think is the most reputable, Mac was rated a 4-star by both ESPN and Rivals...

I think that anyone that thought that he wasn't staying was doing some wishful thinking.

The 2020 Team...What we know so far....
We know 13 former players are gone, 13 new ones have enrolled, 6-10 more will depart so 9-13 more can enroll in June within the 85 limit, and we know spring practice (which is the initial phase of on-field competition for 2020 season depth chart spots) hasn't started yet. We know that at this time last year several starters in game-1, such as Dickerson, Neal, Dale, Lee and C Harris hadn't yet participated in any spring or fall camp practices at Bama.

I might be wrong, but it would just seem odd for Saban to get rid of Golding after our defense was plagued by important injuries, and still managed to perform pretty well overall. Add that to the fact that coaching continuity has been a real issue, and I just don't see it happening.
Unless there are some character/work ethic issues going on behind the scenes with Golding, I just don't see Saban canning him.

To be fair, it was fueled by terrible insider information saying he was for sure gone after the Auburn loss.

Not a Golding fan, but I agree. Even a good DC will struggle with a front 7 dominated by freshmen and a mediocre DC will look good with a defense loaded with talented upperclassmen. If the defense still struggles next year though I think he's definitely out. All those freshmen have plenty of experience under their belts now and Moses is coming back. The secondary will be a work in progress but if we still have issues up front next season it is on Golding.

It didn't seem odd to you when Tosh got tossed after one seaon? How did you feel about the job Golding did against Oklahoma and Clemson last season?

No, because by all accounts, Tosh was absolutely not ready to take over play-calling responsibilities.

I'm not even really trying to say that Golding is that great, I was simply trying to explain why I thought that Saban was not going to can him. I thought that he did well enough against Oklahoma. Clemson wasn't good, but our offense played like shite as well.
