The 10th anniversary of this legendary class is upon us, ladies and gentlemen. It was the class that started it all. The class which all other Alabama freshmen classes judge themselves with. I mean...just take a look at these names:

Julio Jones
Mark Barron
Mark Ingram
Marcell Dareus
Dont'a Hightower
Courtney Upshaw
Barrett Jones
Robert Lester
Damion Square
Brad Smelley

There were so many All-American, All-SEC, and solid role playing players in that class. Judging by the way the '17 class came through for us towards the end of the year, that one might top the '08 class. But for now...we can't forget the legacy these guys left behind.

With everything that went into that class (being the first group that all committed to a program mired in mediocrity, all the wins & titles, the unreal draft slots, the NFL success) that is the greatest class in at least modern, if not all of Alabama history. One of the greatest classes in CFB history.

Greatest class ever...Laid the groundwork for this Dynasty. 09 wasn't bad either.

Maybe their legend will grow like Titus Ryan.

At least it worked out for him. He should have a cool million+ dollars in the bank.

I remember when folks thought that BJ Scott gonna be the best player at Alabama outside Julio and Team Star Jackson was a HUGE.

I'm pretty sure all the recruiting services thought that. Scott was a bust on par with Tyler Love

Don’t forget Mt. Cody was in this class too.

There were surprisingly a ton of Blue-chippers in this class who were busts.

Tyler Love
B.J. Scott
John Michael Boswell
Melvin Ray
Devonta Bolton
Destin Hood
Star Jackson
Chris Jordan
Robby Green
Glenn Harbin
Alonzo Lawrence
Even Jerrell Harris to a certain extent. Imagine the domination of this class if a few of these guys would have met expectations too?

2008 started it all, but the names above may end up being the reason 2017 takes it over as the best one day.

2017 looks to have some NfLers already (Tua-Najee-Jeudy-Ruggs III-Smith-Leatherwood-Dylan Moses-Buggs) plus a few guys we’ve seen in Spot Minutes but who look promising (Jedrick Wills-Brian Robinson-LaBryan Ray)

Vandarius Cowan is a 5-Star who’ll probably make noise at some point. Phidarian Mathis also gets tons of praise.

When they are all gone it will be fun to see what they have accomplished, and to debate 2008 vs 2017.

If Scott would have listened to Saban, we'd be watching him on Sunday.

Moral of the story; if Nick Saban says you will be a top tier DB and don't have a huge future as a WR, you should probably listen.

Is that really what happened with BJ? I always wondered what the story was

BJ was in on a couple of plays vs Clemson, but was pretty much never heard from again.

Scott redshirted in 09 as he moved to DB. He played DB in 10, had a pick in the Tennesse game that year.

BJ Scott wasn’t really a big time NFL athlete. He was stiff in his hip turn movements. He might could have been a safety. I remembered his first red flag was his HS coach saying he should be a safety. He just didn’t really have it.
