Team leaving for Starkville morning of the game?

I saw where the team will travel to Starkville the morning of the game.
I can understand this for maybe a 2:30 kick, but an 11:00am one? Curious as to others thoughts on this approach

I don't know why they aren't staying in Columbus like they usually do.
However, it's not a long drive with a police escort so hopefully it doesn't affect our play. If the state would get off it's arse and finish the 4 lane loop around Gordo and Reform then it wouldn't take so long.

Hwy 82 is so rough around McShan that at least two players will get CTE.

this seems like a bad idea all the way around. a set up for failure, as i said in another thread. wonder if this was decided by the coaches or by a bean counter. i suppose if you want to increase your nil budget...

I'm a little confused by it as well. The cons seems to outweigh the pros to me.
You get the guys sleeping in their own bed and essentially going through the friday home game routine, but I don't know how you go through your nutrition/hydration protocols plus warm ups without waking the guys up at the arse crack of dawn which can lead to drowsiness.
If we're a serious program though, they have altered their schedule this week and guys have been getting into that gameday routine since Sunday which would make this not a big deal.

Bama practices at 9am during the season, so being able to be ready for 11am with a short bus ride to Starkville should be fine.

Bama is 7-1 in early-ish games under DeBoer. So games that kick off 11am to 1pm. Only loss was the Michigan bowl game in year 1. 5-3 against the spread.
Bama is 6-6 in afternoon kickoffs (2:30 to 3:00) and 4-8 against the spread. Yuck.
Bama is 11-1 after 5pm, 10-2 against the spread.
If you just look at ranked teams:
11am-1pm window - 1-0, 0-1 ATS
2:30-3:00pm window - 2-4, 2-4
Late window - 5-0, 5-0

of the time its not good. Its better to sleep in your own bed and leave a little

Traveling the day of the game has many positives IMHO.
