1 a year isn't bad, 3 top defensive players in 4 months is a huge problem.

I'm not seeing these top defensive players transferring from Clemson, Ohio St or Georgia.

Yes they are. In fact all three had defensive players leave this year. No one is immune to The Portal.

Clemson had a running back transfer to A&M and a starting linebacker to West Virginia or Maryland I think . But keep tearing down Bama, don’t let me get in the way

He's not happy unless he can run around screaming that the sky is falling.

If the transfer rules are going to stay like this, the SEC needs to raise their limit from 25 recruits each year to 30. Eventually, you have to provide a level of protection to The Universities

Yeah, let’s look at this a little closer. Anoma was clearly gifted and talented, but he couldn’t stay on the field. Alfano and Carter haven’t proven anything on the field. Sure, they were rated as some of the best in high school, but that doesn’t translate into being be best in college. Again, it looks more like they just didn’t want to earn their spot. You can go look at the transfer portal and see all colleges are suffering with it. As I said, maybe we should start looking at the players willingness to compete and overcome adversity versus rankings. I.E. DJ Dale was ranked 254, 18 DT, and 9 in Alabama. Started from day 1, and I. Sopsher ranked 47, 5 DT and 3 in LA. Both are great players but one was more willing to put in his time and earn that spot. Of course, Sopsher is still competing but it is a good example.

We either have a talent identification issue or a talent retention issue.

I think it's a character identification issue, personally.

The transfer portal is killing the big time teams. I hate the portal

The portal has nothing to do with it. Transfers have always happened. Kind of piggybacking on what someone else said, the bigger issue is that they are squeezing the top programs from both ends right now. You lose your backups to transfer but signing limits have gotten so ridiculous that replacing the losses has become nearly impossible.

Care to elaborate besides missing classes? Any chance Saban convinces him to stay?

Trust me its showing on the D side of the ball... Saban is already upset about depth carts. We just don't have it right now. This 25 limit is fricking stupid now days, huge disadvantage.

If this is the kid's reaction to being corrected or disciplined he won't amount to anything wherever he goes.

Yep...the guy needs to pull up his panties. Get rid of these trouble makers early in their career. Gives Bama another slot to recruit. Hell 20% of the players you sign in a class will never play a meaningful down and that is with Nick Saban recruiting.

He wasnt just skipping classes but walking out of practice and mouthing off to coachs. He became so much of a distraction that Kwon punched him out because he was a major head case. He had to have stitches.
