Good post - and also agree on all of those "moving forward" projections.
We have some playmaker level guys at LB/S that we haven't had in a few years. The only area of the defense where I'm still just not sure is DL, though Oatis is clearly promising.
Safety and ILB feel like the positions where we'd dropped the most the last 5 years from elite to "good". We've got bodies coming in or they are young that match the old elite dudes we used to have at those spots.

I think a lot of it has to do with position coaches more than anything.
Mackenzie Karl Dunbar was one of the best teachers we ever had here. He coached the defensive lineman.
Tosh was the best OLB coach we've had here and yes he's better than Sal.
Pete Golding was a HUGE DOWNGRADE coaching linebackers that's FACTS.
We need Jeremy Pruitt BADLY!!

Pretty sure the jury is still out on the coaching abilities of all three. I would call any of them a great coach right now.
Really simple. If I'm looking at getting Bo Davis or keeping Roach, I'm taking Davis.
If I get to choose between Kelly and Pete vs Pruitt and Schumann, I'm taking Pruitt and Schumann. It comes down to who the choices are.

1. If I were Saban and could get Schuman, he probably would be my first choice.
2. If I were Saban and knew that all his issues were behind him, I would have no problem hiring Pruitt.

Listening to radio it doesn’t sound like it will be Pruitt either. Hopefully whoever it is will bring the aggressive nature we all loved before.

Just prepare yourself, because most of you won't be happy with anyone not named Pruitt, Schumann, Leonard. And it very well may not be any of those guys. But that doesn't mean whoever we get won't be a good hire.

Not saying that just listening to Bama radio. Whereas before many were saying it would be a great hire a lot are saying now that they don’t know if it would be a great idea and that there are plenty of guys out there that can do great things with the talent we have. It almost like they’re trying to temper expectations is kind of how o read it.
