On a serious note, I had this conversation with a coworker today. Hoping JP was in just enough hot water for it to make sense that he takes a lesser role, while getting Schumann back to Tuscaloosa as DC. Even if he gets that HC offer in a couple years, Jermy is sitting in the wings and chomping at the bit. Literally couldn’t work out any better if it proves to be true. Hope you’re right.

I've been thinking the same thing. Hire Schumann away from Smart, and have Pruitt waiting in the wings (as either an analyst or safeties coach) if/when Schumann gets a HC opportunity.

As a defensive minded person. (Tri cities league 6U runner up DC) this exact situation is my wet dream.

Sounds good and I have said the same thing before. Question is will Pruitt be able to work in a subordinate role to a Junior coach? That’ll be the challenge for him; though Sabans presence may alleviate some of the problem.

Obviously it’s a smash hire if true, but on the flip side of that, I’d love to see it happen solely for the reaction from everyone that thought Saban was toast. Revamp the staff for another 4-5 year run, then sail into the sunset, cemented as the GOAT.

Heard the same thing. And this is from someone who has been around the program for a long, long time.

Great hires if accurate, but I have to admit that I was hoping against reasoning that Pruitt would be back as DC next year. I have to assume the upcoming NCAA decision on Pruitt will attach a show cause, unfortunately. Not unexpected, but I wish it had turned out differently. Schuman is a great hire though, if accurate.

The Schumann as DC is starting to pickup steam on TI, not by Rodney himself but by some normally reliable posters.

But I don't think anyone will know Pruitt's future until after the NCAA issues their verdict on him.

Whether it’s Schumann or not it has been expected Pruit at the very least will be an analyst

I know Schumann would have reasons for wanting to stay at UGA, but he (and his wife I think) are Bama alums. Yes he was born im Valdosta, but his dad played for Bear.

When mama calls…

And I would expect that as well. But until the NCAA actually rules on him we won't know that for sure. Plus if they don't hit him with a show cause then we can hire him for something more, like say as the safeties coach which is a position we still need to fill.

I just hate that the NCAA appears to not be in any hurry to make their ruling. Heck I saw one report where they said that the NCAA might not hand down their ruling on Pruitt until this summer. If that's the case there is no way we can wait that long before filling our on the field coaching spots.

Sounds like the new LB coach will be OLB and that will leave one more D coach to be hired - Safeties

Recruits out of Junior Day were saying Armstrong is coaching ILBs.

The next DC may not have a position, T-Rob might just coach the DBs as a whole. He's a safety by trade, and has been the DB coach at every previous stop but USM in 2009.

Muschamp didn't coach a position as DC for LSU in 2003 and 2004 under Saban, so there's precedent...
