You forgot the Marks - Barron and Ingram

because he's a great X's and O's mind?
So you're gonna compare his stats in an NFL offense VS college?
Completely irrelevant.

Pro style simply does not score enough to win games where your defense lets you down.
Maybe so...but if folk are thinking Sark represents a return to a pro style offense then I'm not sure what they were expecting if Enos had stayed on. Enos ran a pro style offense as OC at Arkansas and Michigan State ran the same thing when he was on the offensive staff there...
While Sark wouldn't have been my first choice, I'd be OK with him at OC, especially if Chip Long comes in as co-OC/QB coach...
As far as Bama fans being happy, think we'd have bitched about whomever was hired...can't think of one OC that's been universally loved by our fan base...very few liked Applewhite, some thought McElwain was too conservative, many thought Nuss was awful, some complained about Kiffin's jet sweeps and getting too cute, we complained about Daboll's play calls, and many were underwhelmed when Locksley was hired and disappointed with his playcalling in the Clemson game...

Being reported now by ESPN and others that Sark has been hired. Frick me

Sarkisian was under fire from the moment he took over for Kyle Shanahan in 2017 and didn't immediately replicate the latter's success. Despite the consternation about the offense, the Falcons still finished sixth in the NFL in yards per game (389.1) and 10th in scoring (25.9 per game) in 2018.
Sark can't be blamed for the plethora of fumbles in the red zone, which plagued the Falcons on a weekly basis, or the offensive line woes. His choppy, unbalanced play-calling and head-scratching red-zone calls, however, are questionable traits.
From an article on NFL.com when he was let go from the Falcons.

Dude Matt Ryan is shite.
One day you'll understand.
Julio keeps him on the payroll.

His redzone play calling was worse than Locklsey at the falcons.

Sources: Steve Sarkisian turns down Cardinals to rejoin Alabama (ESPN)
quote:
The Arizona Cardinals offered Steve Sarkisian the offensive coordinator position, but he instead has agreed to return to Alabama to work on Nick Saban's staff, sources told ESPN's Dianna Russini on Saturday.
Sarkisian is expected to become the team's offensive coordinator, sources told ESPN's Chris Low. Former co-offensive coordinator Josh Gattis left the Tide recently for Michigan, and former quarterbacks coach and associate head coach Dan Enos, who reportedly was in line to be Alabama's offensive coordinator and playcaller next season, left Friday to become Miami's offensive coordinator.
Sarkisian was fired by the Atlanta Falcons following the regular season after a two-year run as their offensive coordinator.
Prior to joining Atlanta in February 2017, Sarkisian was an offensive analyst for the Crimson Tide. He took over as offensive coordinator for the team in the College Football Playoff title game after Lane Kiffin departed to become Florida Atlantic's head coach.
Sarkisian was previously the head coach at USC and Washington. Before joining the Falcons, his only NFL coaching experience came in 2004, when he was the Oakland Raiders' quarterbacks coach under then-head coach Norv Turner.

Sark would be a long term guy. He did his jump to the NFL thing and likely isn't HC Material. Bama may be looking at some good stability for a while with this. Enos was going to have us in the same boat next year with a coordinator leaving at playoffs time. Now need a good Def. Coord. who is a lifer.

Just got CBS sports update about Notre Dame dude and the OC position. I'm too drunk and not giving enough fricks to link it.

You couldn't be more wrong. Embrace change. With that said, Sark is allegedly an alcoholic but his alleged baggage is less than that of Locksley's alleged baggage. If things go well at Bama Sark could be a head coach in a year or two.

Ok?
Comparing nfl to college isn't a thing.
One of the best OL coaches we've had during Saban's tenure (Pendry) was horrible in the Nfl. Finishing damn near last in the league as a unit.
It's a great move by Saban. Sark had some demons in the closet during his short stint at Bama. I think he comes in hungry, and finishes the job he never began.

I think the most important thing to remember is that not one of our opinions matter. It doesn’t matter if we love the hire or hate the hire. For Saban to have hired him this quickly, he obviously wanted him. Just gotta trust in that.

It could just be that he knew going to the Cardinals as an OC was a waste of time with Kingsbury there as the real OC. With no other NFL options on the table, he took the Bama job.
Everyone seems to forget he wasted no time in leaving us the first time.

but were horrific in the redzone
The Falcons were 9th out of 32 in red zone TDs. They weren't the best, but 9th sure as hell isn't "horrific".
When you have to just make shite up to support your position, you lose the debate. Period.

They had a stretch where they scored every single time, but the biggest complaint by fans and analysts was that he was incapable of calling a solid redzone offense.
Then the fans and analysts are morons. You don't score "every single time" "for a stretch" if you're incapable of calling a solid red zone offense, because you clearly did.
Jesus effing Christ.

I agree, but where is he gonna go now? Maybe a college coach in 3+ years?
He just turned down an Nfl OC gig to coach at Bama.
