Saban says he doesn't need anyone else to criticize him for motivation.

“My standard comes from within me, not some external motivation that comes from some place else. I haven’t even heard or read any of those things because I don’t really pay a lot of attention to it.”

Y'all made him mad ????????

I would hope his teams performance would make him mad but if a few fans did, then so be it.

Saban has become a PhD in philosophy surrounded by Jimmies and Joes. What could go wrong

Well he needs to do his goddamn job and he won't have to worry about external motivating factors.

The quote states that he doesn't.

I'm very surprised that he hasn't told all the folks like most of us to kiss his arse! He'd have every right to, and I'm frankly disappointed that he hasn't!
frick all you clowns for coming down on a guy who's accomplished what he has in the last fifteen years!...and doing in after the 2ND game of the season!

Such a dishonest strawman to say that folks who are complaining aren’t appreciative of the past 15 years under Saban. Of course we are, and of course Saban has every right to call his own shot and retire on his own timeline and he will always be a legend and the GOAT.

But, Bama fans are also very football savvy and we have the right to call out issues that we observe with the team. And many of us have come to expect the same excellence that Saban demanded and preached about for years.

If the 2023 roster were coached by the Saban of the early 2010s vs current Saban, the 2010s coached team wins by 2-3 touchdowns. It is what it is, and it’s not unappreciative to acknowledge it. If anything, it’s reverence and respect for the Saban that we saw for a long time.

He must live up to his own standards or what good are the standards?

I can't help cringing every time I see someone defending poor, helpless Saban from the internet bullies. He's on a $93.6M contract. He doesn't need your white knighting.

I’m fairly certain he knows you can love someone and still be disappointed in them at the same time. I certainly hope he loves his team and is still disappointed in them at the same time?

That’s where I’m at, and no matter how we choose to express our displeasure, I hope deep down that where we all are.

But come on, he has to know he’s a victim of his own success right? He’s known for years this fan base has unrealistic expectations, he’ll…he is the one who created them.

Remember the story of the old couple he saw at the lake that told him we will get them next year?

I doubt Nick has lost a minute of sleep.

Again, don't create standards for everyone then get upset when people speak out on you not meeting your own standards that you created.

He gets paid millions to coach a game. Those millions wouldn't be there for him to be paid if it weren't for fans putting butts in seats and eyes on the tv. He has every right to tell the fans to kiss his arse, the fans have every right to turn a critical eye towards the product he's putting on the field.

On the call, he said the QB must be able to process quickly.

Since Milroe can't process at all, much less quickly...I will assume we will see Buchner starting Saturday.

Saban has forgotten more football than the collective of this site knows. Getting rid of him would be about as stupid as can be. The guy won the 2020 NC and was two lost players away from repeating. With Mechie and Williams we beat Georgia again.

Saban is still a top 3 coach.
