If we are talking about a 1 game season versus Ole Miss, I think it’s a good call.

If we’re trying to get better each week in an attempt to field a SEC contender…..yikes

He caved to the troublemakers on the team.

Surely to God we are actually going to utilize those strengths sometime soon and call some designed runs.

As much as Rees like to use 12 personnel and motion with the tight ends, designed runs with Milroe should be a nightmare. I'm not talking about read option, I'm talking about straight-up QB power, QB counter, and QB sweep. Wildcat plays but with your actual QB.

I don't think I saw us run a single one against Texas. That's baffling.

At least the highlights will be exciting. ESPN loves long bombs and pick sixes.

He looks like the only real QB we have. He must be fricking something up that's not obvious to me.

The problem with Milroe is he has two skills:
1. Running, mostly in a straight line.
2. Throwing the ball far.

If he really is going to be the starter, I have to assume we're planning to Run, run, play-action bomb, and that's it. That's fine, I guess, IF the O-line improves by a thousand percent. If not, we're losing multiple games.

I’m hoping that Saturday was just a live tryout of some sorts for the other two QBs and that Milroe was still viewed as the default QB. However, if that’s the case then we just wasted a game of giving Milroe much needed reps and confidence before SEC play.

I hope we will just tailor the offense to Milroe. Run RPO quick passes where he has one read and then runs or hands off to a running back if it isn’t there. That keeps Milroe from having to go through progressions, that gets the ball out fast if the offensive line continues to play poorly, etc. Then throw in the occasional deep pass.

It’s not ideal, but if that’s the best offense we have then go with it. What I don’t want to see us do is try to force Milroe to do things he can’t do or be something that he isn’t.

It looks like Saban was just seeing what else we had on the easy game and Milroe knew what was happening. Showed good attitude during the game and cheered them on like a big brother. I think this entire thing was planned.

The real issue is that no team is going win a title with a QB as limited in the passing game as ours, which basically takes the program's annual aspirational goal off the table before the regular season games are even played.

That's kind of what I thought. But, I still think Simpson is the better option, and will eventually win the job.

I am starting to think there may be more rotting at its core with this team. Not because Jalen is starting, I think he is a good dude and for the time being, gives us the best chance to win. However, I listened to podcast with Booker today where he said they had a players only meeting about togetherness and that he feels like the team is more cohesive now. He made comments that the O-line did a good job ect. Anyone with two eyes can tell that the O-line played horribly. Saban sits Milroe for the whole game for whatever reason, and now two days later he is the starter. It feels like maybe the team chose Jalen for whatever reason it may be and they were just going through the motions because "their guy" wasn't out there. I guess I don't understand how a guy who didn't play in the game earns a starting job, a week after he didn't earn one rep.

Hoping for success for the guy and more importantly the team. Fearing a continuing trend of throwing to the guys with the wrong color jerseys. If Milroe does play bad and has to be pulled, then sit gets real.

Bro, he's had an entire year to learn. He won't learn how to read a defense in two weeks.

Perfect

Now can we develop a gameplan around his strengths please?

How about more 12 personnel? Designed runs? Moving Milroe out of the pocket? Play action?(I know that’s scary with the OL).

I honestly think now Saban was letting the USF game as a tryout game for the other two guys to see who could compete with Milroe to be starter. Even though it was close they had such a talent gap that Saban never felt he had to sub Milroe in and spam QB runs

It’s going to have to be a pre snap, 1 post snap, or run. That’s it. It can work. If we run that only. And work well if done to perfection.

Because it’s not the offense they installed for the season.

Could they put those packages in? Maybe.

I don’t think that’s what they intend(ed) to do with Milroe.

Boz,

is it possible Saban kinda did this on purpose to lure Ole miss into a trap?
