These aren't college kids playing for love of the game and pride of their school.
Williams was the highest paid WR in college football this year, getting about 3 million dollars.
He deserves every single bit of criticism he has gotten for his completely awful year. He was paid on expectation of performance and he hasn't lived up to his part of the bargain.

First of all, I doubt you know his earnings. Probably something you read online. I can guarantee you he could’ve made more somewhere else if he wanted to.
2nd: A large portion of his earnings seem to be from legit NiL opportunities. He was a video game cover athlete. He had multiple sponsorships. You arent paying his salary, so why do you care?
You guys have to stop acting mad these kids are getting money when you aren’t paying a single red cent of it. Just watch the games and stop working yourself up about shite you don’t have skin in the game

Nobody is mad he is getting paid. We are mad he isnt catching the ball. But the fact that he gets paid millions of dollars, means that he is open to take some criticism for his performance.

OP is correct. Ryan Williams needs to step up his level of play. He has not played well overall this season.

People were criticizing player performance long before NiL. This isn’t like a switch flipped and now that they make money people started.
I also think it’s extremely weird to use NiL as permission to criticize when 99.5% of this board pays nothing toward NiL.
I’ll gladly make the deal that anyone who pays toward NiL can bitch all they want. If you don’t, it’s like voting. Can’t complain if you don’t contribute

Ridiculous to think fans of a team are not allowed to criticize how a team is run.

It’s just stupid because it doesn’t make a difference and I’m criticizing the logic of “well he’s paid now so….” when no one knows what he’s paid, how much of it is from Alabama, and how much of it is coming out of your pocket.
If y’all want to yell into the abyss about the money(that you don’t spend)all it really does is make us look like a pain in the arse fanbase to play for.
Courtney Morgan and DeBoer aren’t going to make roster decisions based on what RatphuckHobley2007 says on a message board so you’d be better off spending that time pissing up a rope

Got damn! You couldn't even take a day off ... To celebrate Christmas with your family only to talk about Ryan... Got damn!
Exactly
Who knows maybe this Christmas season is what RW needs to wake up and stay focused during the week so he can perform better in the games.
Let's hope and pray he does. If he can trap those balls on his pads and hold on to them he is a heck of a weapon

Do you ever miss a chance to come off as a curmudgeonly old prick counting someone else’s money?

Nix is going to get him straightened out. Watch him earn AA honors next year.
It wouldn’t shock me. The talent is there. And you’d think with Germ on the way out and the way Brooks has come on that Williams will bump back and be primarily an outside receiver next year which might help.

Whya are you so angry about these guys making money? Do you not like making money or do you like working at something and not being compensated?

I’m convinced no one hates Alabama players more than some Alabama fans on this board. They’d suit up robots in crimson if they could.

Williams needs to get over his yips and I think going outside exclusively may be the move to help that to be quite honest.

While I have not looked at RW and how he catches the ball specifically, I do wonder about how hard the ball is thrown by Ty compaired to what he was catching in high school.
My impression (whether accurate or not) is that RW catches the ball best with his hands when his little fingers are closer together and his thumbs out. When his thumbs are closer, then ball tends to squirt thru his hands. He tend to prefer to catch the ball against his body.
When you catch with your body, the balls bounces back due to how hard the ball is thrown or if an inpact (hit) from behind causes the ball to bounce or your hands to shift.
All of that goes to say, his style would be better suited for deep balls with him playing on the outside. He does better when not concerned about being a pinball over the middle.

He had no problems catching last year. And he is trying to catch with his body on a lot of the deep balls and his hands have been no where near the ball.

Why does it bother you that he is criticized? Whether hes paid or not, or if those criticizing are paying salaries or not, no one who is playing a sport is above criticism. Even if its from fans. I promise you they want praise and adoration when they do good. Actually, when they do good they want more money.
Its good for them to hear criticism, it prepares them for the real world. Thats one of the biggest problems in the world today, as kids, most people today were given all the accolades and shielded from any criticism. You can see all in our society in people 35 and under.

I think there is fair criticism and unfair criticism. I’ve only really pointed it out here. My original post on here was a joke because it was Christmas of all days, but it devolved from there.
Fair criticism: Ryan has struggled with drops and consistency. His playtime and targets have been affected accordingly. We all want him to be amazing and he has that ability in him.
Unfair criticism: “He should be practicing instead of painting his nails and playing with dinosaur dolls. He only cares about the money. He’s overpaid and overrated.” Etc etc.
It’s a bullshite way to go about it. You can recognize he’s struggling without it being a personal attack or playing arm chair psychologist; assuming what he’s doing in his down time, how much he makes, etc. I just think that’s a shitty way to be a fan. Kid clearly loves Alabama. He doesn’t want to drop the ball. I’m sure he’s working on it.
Example: Talty got booed at home. Everyone wanted him cut. Then he was great in the Iron Bowl and OU game.
Tl/dr: You can be critical without being an absolute weirdo about it. These are our guys. We don’t get any better by you all shitting on them.

He had the exact same issues last year, but our fans/media didn't focus on it; even one of his highlight plays from the UGA game last year was off a bobble.
He had 7 drops on 87 targets and that's without accounting for him playing inside more due to the OC.
