Let's not forget we have the greatest coach in college football history. We haven't lost more than one game in how many years? Saban will learn from the Auburn game and have the guys ready.

Maybe Auburn awoke a sleeping giant.

don't really agree 2015's o-line was better. We were just really committed to the run. We were like 98th in tackles per loss given up though. and Clemson annihilated is up front that game too.

They weren't great and were essentially the same as this year but I felt they progressed a lot in the season and were a solid unit towards the end. I also think Kiffin never got enough credit for doing what he did with the oline play we were working with.

Wasn't trying to be a negative little bitch in my OP, just feel like we are playing in the long shot / underdog role this year and I fricking love it. (would still rather be the completely dominant force of nature we have been in the pass but I'll take good team, with greatest coach with a shot)

The 15 OL was average at best, there was a ton of tackles for a loss that year.

Teams were trying to load the box to stop Henry, luckily Coker stepped up his game and was lights out in the playoffs. Coker won Bama that national championship game.

need trips left, pump fake the quick pass to the edge and then hit the TE on a wheel route...Worked before with OJ.

Our oline isn’t great in pass protection, but they can run block effectively. Clemson isn’t stopping our run without eight commited to the box. We have to commit to running the ball even when they show a stacked box, as teams have been showing and then dropping guys out to confuse the reads.

With the running backs that we have. We need to run them until the Clemson defense cries uncle.

We need to stay balanced though

we aren't as strong in the trenches as a typical bama team

Sorry, but this is bullshite. What we're not is a very athletic OL. Except for Fluker, Womack is as good at drive blocking as any RT we've had. BB at center is the best hat-on-hat mauler in the Saban era.
But, we constantly set them up for failure by going to a finesse zone blocking scheme out of the shotgun with their weight back on their heels. If we'd have them with their asses in the air and their hands in the dirt, fire out and dent people's face masks this run game would be markedly better.
Is there a blocking sled within 50 miles of Tuscaloosa?

We definitely should run the ball more with Harris mainly then Jacobs/Najee,use Bo for tough hards/goalline. I mean this is a no-brainer.
I think this game will come down to how well we stop their offense. We limit them and create some turnovers we should win. I have confidence we'll do that.
Be that as it may,we better take our best shot at a National Championship this year because we probably won't make the playoffs next year.

I disagree with a lot of that and feel like you are forgetting how dominant our oline was from roughly 2008 - 2012 using mainly zone blocking schemes if I understand Pendry / Stoutlands philosophy correctly.

So maybe its the blocking scheme, but that scheme has been our bread and butter in the Saban era.

Daboll is working with the players he has offensive wise and is putting in his system. I think we will get to what we like to see as an offense eventually but it takes time to implement and you need the right players in the right spots for it to work.

Regarding the Auburn game, I think the plan was to attack Auburns Defense at their weakest point in the first half, we just didn't deliver. Then we ran in the opening two drives of the second half, one TD, one three and out, I think Jonah William's clipping call came after that and we started to get down and were fighting the clock and it just snowballed plus a lot of mental mistakes that game.

So overall, i think people are being a bit too harsh on Daboll and judging his philosophy largely on that one bad game is a bit rash - I still have hopes that he will be a good one for us.

So we should run the ball right into the best dline in the nation? As if that's the answer on offense?

Here's our issue: Clemson is going to score points. Probably more than 28.
We might be playing from behind. We can't afford 3 & outs. Period.

At the end of the day, it's going to be damn near impossible to win a natty without a legit passing game. This is why I hope Boz's insider info is correct abt Tua playing. He gives us a shot to actually compete in a shootout style game

When was the last time Clemson faced a stout running game? Clemson's defense is fast but it won't have the size to shut down a downhill running game the whole time. I'd feel better if Jim McElwain was our oc.

I mean, they sure bottled up Auburn pretty well

That was an Auburn without Kerryon Johnson and with only a hobbled Kam Pettway, who is pretty meh even when healthy against a good defense.

I don't agree with that. Clemson's offense is basically a mirror image of our offense except with a slightly better passing game and a significantly worse running game.

If Clemson scores 28 against us then it will be a massive failing by our defense.

You're kidding right? Our offense has become a bumbling inept joke. Clemson's offense is a finely tuned machine that hums along. Kelly Bryant will be the best QB we've faced all season long.

Bottom line: we need much more offensive firepower than we've been seeing, and our defense will score a major win if they hold Clemson to less than 4 tds. I see ppl saying we need to ground and pound them all game. I think we HAVE to be more explosive. The minute they fear our passing game (if thats possible), the running game will torch them

This is not the Clemson offense of the last 2 years. Their QBs have a combined 138 QBR and the averages 4.87 ypc. They have been very inconsistent in several games this year.

However their front 7 is probably just as good the ones from the last 2 years, and our offense has been even more inconsistent than theirs.
