Exactly. I'm a lot closer to the demographic that composes the majority of top tier recruits than many here and Pitino would get his fair share of those recruits.

Rick Pitino as a coach is great, but it’s just hard for me to see how he doesn’t eventually get Alabama in NCAA trouble.

I feel about Pitino and the fact that he is in his twilight the same way I felt about Saban when he was hired.
We all heard how much of a Nomad Saban was and that he would be at Bama 3-4 years tops............I always said, I was ok with that. He will right the ship and get us a National Championship before he leaves. I will say thank you and best of luck wherever you decide to go next. The rest has been icing on the cake.
So what if Pitino is in the twilight of his career. 4-5 years is all it would take to get things rolling and make Bama a destination job for someone to come in and keep it rolling.

I think we all agree that Pitino is one of the 4 or 5 best living coaches that have coached the college game. I think Pitino wouldn't want to end his career the way it did in Louisville. So...If he would come to Bama, he could repair his coaching reputation. I just hope Rick feels the same way

Our AD prety much said Slick Rick wont be considered. It would be a PR beat down for the University if we hired him.
Pretty sure Sampson is also eliminated although his transgressions are much less than Slick Rick. The other thing about hiring Slick Rick is that he could get the 3 year cant hire from the ncaa, plus I doubt the SEC would allow it either.

This board is full of morons that didn't realize we should have fired Anthony Grant a year earlier and hire Pearl.
Now Auburn is getting ready for the sweet sixteen and we're losing our best player because our AD's top priority is NCAA compliance and academic integrity...
We can continue to stick to our MO and not hire Pitino and get our asses kicked by him annually at Arkansas or A&M. Or we can stick him with a strong morality clause contract and return to being the second best basketball program in the SEC.
