Man oh man, do I ever hope you are right about that.

The ironic thing is if Milroe actually transfers to a team on our schedule, he’ll beat the shite out of us because we’ve proven that we can’t stop one dimensional running attacks.

We have all seen NFL teams loose touch with reality and reach way up in the draft for a player based on combine performance alone. Hopefully Milroe will be able to count on doing that to get drafted. I just want the dude gone. He needs a good draft grade.

He’s making 2.5 million at Bama. Unless he goes in round 1, he’s coming back for more. I don’t see an NFL franchise foolish enough to do that. He’s a complete project that’s shown little to no improvement in the passing game.
He’s 6’2” and around 220 or so. He has really good speed but 4.3 forty doesn’t mean squat if the QB can’t do basic reads and still has poor mechanics after 5 years at the collegiate level.

If Anthony Richardson can go in the first round, Jalen Milroe can certainly sucker some GM that only sees “potential” and his measurables at the combine. And just to make the decision easier for him, I’d make some phone calls to some boosters to ensure that $2.5 million in NIL dries up.

You really think the people in charge of paying out our NIL are going to continue to pay him that? He'll still have his LANK brand merchandise but I'd imagine sales will dry up quickly.

Question because I don't know, but it that guaranteed? It seems to me any NIL would at least in part be performance/merit based, i.e. he's the starting QB. If so, naming another QB1 would cut his NIL and give him more reason to look for greener pastures.

Milroe isn't anywhere near the physical specimen Anthony Richardson was. Richardson is 6'4" 245 lbs and runs a 4.43 while Milroe is 6'2, 225 and runs a 4.64. Milroe's arm strength also isn't anywhere near AR's. I'm genuinely confused why people talk about Milroe like he's this awesome Josh Allen level physical talent.

He ran a 4.64 coming out of HS. No chance he's running a 4.64 40 right now.

Who do you think?
Milroe- in no way can I see it
Simpson?? Does he portal??
Mack??
Russell- probably not ready
Someone from the portal? Who would even be out there?? Manning, Drones, Fifita..or roll the dice on a G5 guy…
I think it'll be Ty Simpson.
Alabama has the talent behind Milroe. We don't need a guy from the portal.
There's no fricking way Jalen Milroe is the starting quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide next season. There's just no way.

I’m getting downvoted for saying this but I don’t care, I think Simpson is gone because it’s obvious DeBoer, whether he’s right or wrong, has no confidence in him and doesn’t think he can cut it as No. 1.
I can see Milroe trying to come back out of spite and to prove a point, I would hope DeBoer would dissuade him.
I have always been high on Mack but for some reason I get downvoted every time I mention his name here, I don’t know whose Cheerios he pissed in.
Most believed Simpson would transfer before the season started, me among them. He was obviously given good reason not to by Deboer himself, and that reason was probably a combination of confidence in his ability and a shitload of money.
It was Julian Sayin CKD didn't seem to have confidence in, and we know this because he brought in Austin Mack.
Ty Simpson is our starter. Who's Jalen Miltoe that CKD would marry himself to him beyond this season? Nobody, that's who.
CKD wanted Simpson to stay and we know this because Simpson is still on the roster.

Who would agree to pay him? How does that work?

There is ZERO chance Milroe runs a 4.64 40. If he did, he would routinely be chased down by defenders. Milroe is a terrible QB and a terrible person but let’s be brutally honest here, the guy can run like a deer and very, very few defenders can catch him in a foot race.
Milroe can also throw the ball a long, long way. AR may have 2 inches and about 20 lbs on Milroe but they’re eerily similar in terms of ability.

It'll be Milroe... and I'll be finding something to do with my Saturday afternoons. Unless the coaches really do tell him to explore other options and his NIL money gets pulled or reduced. There will be a lot of schools lining up to grab him, if he does go elsewhere.
He's tanked his draft stock with his Vandy, Tenn and OU performances. No GM that wants to keep his job is going to take that wild of shot. He may go in the third or fourth round, but that won't be enough to get him out the door.
Unless some NFL team has him slated to play a different position or in a Taysom Hill, TE, RB, QB type role where they will go all in for his athleticism, he won't likely go early.
If Milroe is back, Ty will definitely be gone. Mack is a redshirt Freshman, so maybe he stick around. You'd have to imagine that the RB crew and some WR's will bail as well. You really can't blame Bond and Niblack for getting out. They got a lot of NIL money and went to a place with a QB that has the ability to make short, medium and long passes.
I'm struggling to find a scenario right now where Milroe isn't coming back.

From what I've been told, Simpson was indeed paid to stay at Bama. I've heard the number was around 400K. I don't know if that' accurate.

I agree with most all what you've said but this. Most schools know Milroe is severely limited as a passer. He's been a collegiate QB for 5 years with two solid years a starter and yet he's still making the same critical mistakes. His throwing mechanics are poor and he absolutely has not improved on reading defenses. Expecting him to throw into windows is out of the question. Poor mechanics lead to passes thrown where the receiver often has to make a circus catch. I don't see schools lining up unless they want a one-dimensional QB.

I've never bought in on Ty being the guy. Two separate staffs have picked Milroe over him, including a staff that picked a Lacrosse player over him. I really like Lonergan, in the Mercer game he seemed to be the type of guy that would play in the system the best by taking exactly what the defense gives you and not forcing the ball. Mack has a lot of potential from some of the throws he's made as well.

I agree but Lonergan is not just a 'system' QB. He's got a live arm and a quick release. I really like this kid from what I've seen, and I think he's got the "It" factor. I hope he doesn't transfer because I think he's going to be a star somewhere.

Dylan Lonergan? He can read the field and get the ball out fast.
