This offensive line should definitely be improved next year. Now all we need is them to move on from Kap.

We definitely replenished the OL cupboard.

The Spring battles at a number of positions are going to be fun.

No idea if he's actually any good, but we really needed someone with significant P4 starting experience somewhere on the OL. Going into the season with 3+ first time starters was probably not going to end well.

He's got a lot of experience. He allowed 3 sacks and 6 penalties in 12 starts for Mississippi State last year. Feel like that was better than either RT starter last year (though Carroll graded out well for a freshman). Proctor had 2 sacks and 2 penalties last year according to PFF.

2 sacks for Proctor sounds way low

Yeah, I don't know how it is that low but I also have trouble thinking of a game where he got owned constantly. To be quite honest, our problems last year were mostly the guards and right tackle. Albeit, I think the guard problems were partly due the backs almost always helping to the outside because of the tackles not handling speed rush well. The IOL was left in situations where it was always the 3 of them v. whatever the defense brings up the middle.

Guards were the major issue. Maybe I’m wrong but I think Carrol would make a better guard than T even though he played well for much of his starts. I did see him get run around or beat inside several times. That was the biggest problem with the run game was backs and inconsistency in OL not was never one guy but one of the five always missed a block or got beat. It was someone different in almost every snap.

We've brought in 3 transfer OTs, have two blue-chip Sophomores (one with significant starter experience at OT), brought in 3 IOL transfers too.

I get the feeling that our better talents are at OT than OG, so somebody is going to end up losing the tackle battle and playing guard instead. If that is Carroll, Lloyd, Haywood, Brooks, or James, beats the hell out of me. I'd sorta suspect that James is going to start at LT just because he trumps all of them on experience. Carroll has the inside track on RT but he's also got better competition than Formby now too. My guess is we end up playing 4 OTs and Delgatty or Strayhorn at center.

How many pressures did he allow, though? Ty had to run for his life pretty often, and the plays were disrupted. Sometimes Proctor's man didn't get the sack, but he set someone else up to make it.

Looks like we have enough OL talent, I just want to find 5 guys and stick with them all year. No more rotating guys all season.

Ty also backpedaled out of the pocket a shite ton causing more pressures.

You think the staff does this to get in-game reps for younger guys so in the event of an injury the backup isn't coming in with zero experience?

I think they do a lot of that on defense and its great. But OL is probably not the best place to do that; definitely not at the frequency we did last year. That shite was unheard of.
