Well respected person on another site says Jarrett Johnson might be the person to take Jamey's spot.
I wish CDB could find a place for Nick Gentry. We haven't had a DL with his motor in a long time.

Appalachian State RB Khalifa Keith is on campus visiting.
He's from Birmingham and originally signed with Tennessee out of high school.

Oh please.
Tim Keenan has a motor, as did Quinnen Williams and Jonathan Allen, oh, and Wallace Gilberry, Damion Square and Will Anderson, et al. Some of these also had great skill, others not as much, some great smarts, but great motors they all had.
Gentry had great quickness and Johnson was strong as an ox.

I saw there's a RB from Gardner Webb in the portal. Carson Gresock. He had 1000 yds rushing, and averaged 5.5 yds per carry. 5'11" 215 lbs. I wonder if he got a look from Bama? Seems like the type of small school talent we would be targeting.

He didn’t do much at App State. Did he get hurt?

It's a good addition to the RB room. Will fit in nice with them.

At the very least, he's a (likely) very cheap (as he's coming back close to home) depth piece that can likely be a Special Teams asset. Dre Washington, while not giving us carries, at least played a role on STs.

The 100 RB in the portal. Is that correct or is it the #100 player on the portal?

Dre Washington may have made one of the most low key consequential plays of the season on a punt fake by Mizzou in the 2nd half.

depth piece
This is it in a nutshell. He will be an experienced college depth piece. One would hope that we don’t have to play a sixth string back. But we were down to Daniel Hill and AK Dear against UGA in the SECCG.

At 6'1 235 i hope he can at least be a short yardage specialist or maybe a damn good blocker. But its also possible he has got more juice than we think.

His high school highlights looked impressive. Wonder why his college stats are so low?

Nothing to spend much time on here.

Depth piece that presumably grew up a fan of the program
I’m cool with it. Wouldn’t be opposed to having him redshirt this year if our ST situation is also sorted. Becomes a “pull in case of emergency” option and then we’d get him next year as additional depth

Jarrett Johnson had more heart than most players. That was a guy who never, ever, EVER gave up on a play or a game. Didn’t matter how bad the situation was, he gave it 110% at all times.
He was the kind of player Coach Bryant loved. A guy who was just pretty good but played way bigger than his ability.

He played 12 seasons in the NFL. More than just “pretty good “.
