I agree with you that Grubb isn't as bad as most on here are saying. There were many, many missed plays last year. Big plays. And if his players can't execute the schemes in live games, then his hands are kinda tied.
Agreed

Having said that, its hard to believe that we didn't have the horses to run the ball better than we did. And the fact that he got fired from the Seahawks because his offense sucked at running the ball makes it seen like the problem is him. Idk if that's true, but that is what it seems like.
Well they wanted a change in philosophy. They wanted to change into a run first philosophy while Grubb and KDB use a pass first.
That doesn't mean Grubb sucks. It means he runs a different concept so if you want a run first concept you need to hire the OC with that philosophy.

I think many fans blame coaches when players fail to execute.
When you scheme a guy open and he drops a ball to keep a drive alive that’s a player issue, not a coaching issue.
When your OL can’t run block consistently against bad to average defensive fronts that’s a player issue, not a coaching issue.
When a QB gets hurt and can’t push the ball downfield that’s a player issue, not a coaching issue.
When your running backs fail to get up field with room in front of you or fail to make anyone miss that’s a player issue, not a coaching issue.
What no one seems to be prepared to admit to themselves is that we just weren’t that good this year.
Our OL was objectively bad.
Our WRs had drop issues, failed to block and had injury issues.
Our RBs were injured and sub replacement level.
Our two top TEs were both either out or dinged much of the year.
Our QB was elite before getting injured after which he was statistically one of the worst in the conference.
What plays are you supposed to call to make up for that? You can’t. You just aren’t that good and can only hope to grind out games.
If any of our fans were looking at our roster circa AU/SECCG lining up for another team with those stats they’d just think they were playing a 7-8 win team and expect to win easily.
Because of the dynasty we just can’t accept what we are rather than what we were roster wise and the fact that many of the elite players we signed at the end of the Saban era were bad evals.

We won it one year and couldn’t stop a water leak. I can not debate ignorance
Alabama has won the Joe Moore award twice. First in 2015 with Derrick Henry and the second in 2020 with one of the best offenses in college football history.

Can you help us to understand what specific issues you had with the UW line the year they went to the CFPNC with a bunch of 3* players, their backs averaged 5.5YPC and only allowed 12 sacks all year?
I mean I certainly think winning the award for best OL in the nation as evaluated by a bunch of OL coaches when you only have mid tier recruits and being elite in all statistical categories is a sign of high coaching achievement but if you have other facts you want to bring by all means.

end Saban wanted to hire Grubb and couldn't. Pete Carroll hired Grubb. Many other coaches wanted him as well.
It was Mike McDonald instead of Carroll. Carroll was taking a year off before coming back to ruin my entire nfl watching experience this year as a 74 year old man.
If your combined head coach/qb age is 108 you will not have fun.

A lot of it was undue flack. Jake Coker is remembered very fondly by a lot of Alabama fans, but if you go back and watch those games he held on to the ball a long arse time and created a lot more pressure with his long drop backs.

Honestly, I’ve thought a few times over the past week that maybe Sheridan is a better play caller based on this year versus last

Who on this board got eligibility?
Strap up.
I know I'm good for one play at least. Until my bones break. Or I pull something.

I guess that DeBoer will end in the unemployment line if he doesn’t get all of this straightened out soon. End up like Brian Kelly and Freeze.
