Nope. They were enforceable law on 3/27 and were being enforced by many jurisdictions. The only new enforceable one was the store limit.
No less authority than the state Attorney General made that very point at Ivey’s press conference.
When Ivey put shelter in place in, she said "It is no longer a recommendation, it is now the law."

For the record, I supported Trump's push for travel restrictions. I think there should have been more travel restrictions and bans on cruises.
Where I disagree with Trump is his public denial that there was going to be a problem, lack of urgency in stockpiling equipment, and now outright lying about his statements and actions.
I'm an independent (yes, we really exist), but this is a public health issue, not a Republican/Democrat issue like the majority seem to be trying to make it.

What exactly is that supposed to mean? I voted for George W. Bush twice and John McCain, along with a number of state Republicans. I've voted for far more Republicans than Democrats in my lifetime.
Just because I find Trump's Covid response to be lacking doesn't mean I'm a "Communist libtard" as many of you assume. Don't make assumptions.

I'm learning the perils of having others grocery shop for you for delivery. If you don't get their message during the shopping they take it upon themselves to replace the item even when I have said explicitly don't. Now instead of a family pack of kielbasa I have 2 huge packs of cocktail smokies
. And no offense I'll give you a pass on Gain detergent as a replacement but you ask me about the dish soap. Gain vs Dawn is a lifestyle choice
. Damn this isolation.

Then she was wrong either because she is Kay Ivey or she was intentionally trying to use a fear tactic. If you'll watch the whole thing, you'll hear Steve, when asked directly what is different now, reply "this is pretty much the same that we've been doing."
Her original order references the same code sections as the second one - and those code sections are what give that authority. Cities like Dothan, Birmingham, Montgomery, and many others were already going around forcing businesses like Academy Sports to close under the authority of that first order and the code sections that gave her the authority to issue it.
What you call an order means absolutely nothing. What matters is the law behind it. That law was the same for both orders and she added no new "things you can't do" to the second one.

Yeah, due to my being immunocompromised, my wife is having to get all the supplies, which freaks her out due to her OCD. It's frustrating being at the mercy of someone else to get everything. Yesterday I asked her to get some really good raw breaded chicken from Aldi if they had it, because we all really liked it. She came back with some breaded pre-cooked chicken. It was okay, but our daughter didn't like it and it was nowhere near as good as the other. Would have rather gone without if they didn't have the good kind.

That’s my entire problem with ordering. If they don’t have JIF peanut butter, just don’t bring me anything else. You get stuck with all kinds of crap that you don’t want

Nowhere in my post did I say anything about the government holding anyone's hand, so your entire post is a strawman.
You blamed our government because they waited to implement orders to stay at home because people could not use common sense to follow guidance laid out and what was working in other countries. Again why do we need the government to make a responsible decision for us?
quote:
There are things the government can do that are out of my control that could have mitigated the impact in this country that they failed to do, and they should be held accountable for that.
Like what tell idiots not to go to large gatherings? I mean if anyone that should be held accountable should be businesses that held these events or that continued to have their employees travel or those people that thought it was necessary to take personal travel to see family overseas or to vacation. So now the government you want to come in and tell people you can not do this and now need our permission because you have no common sense. Got it even though it did not turn out to well for Soviet Union.
quote:
I said earlier in the thread a stay-at-home order from the governor is a more forceful message than the guidelines already in place. It's a messaging thing that carries more weight.
So again you are saying government needs to intervene because people are incapable.
quote:
There's even another report out this morning that people in HOmeland Security were sounding the alarm over this in November of last year, and our government didn't take any meaningful steps until February.
quote:
So our leaders listened to the CHinese government over our own agencies and experts. And that doesn't concern you in the least?
quote:
ABC reported it this morning
I assume from these posts you have never been in a position to actually rely on these reports. If so you would not be validating their accuracy.
quote:
This thing was going to get here and spread. There was absolutely no way to avoid that. The federal government wasted a good two months preparing for that inevitability
As you said it was going to get here and spread. Please without or opinion provide some factual evidence that would have us better prepared. Do you honestly think in poor neighborhoods hospitals with the proper equipment would have popped up to treat those people? Do you think they would have wrapped every person over the age of 65 or living in a nursing home with bubble wrap? Do you have any actual facts that if we had more test available or more PPE, or ventilators that less people would be dead now?
Everything I read the people dying from it nothing could have been done. Why do you think the medical community has been discussing not even trying to resuscitate or treat people over 65.
In the end I doubt(my opinion) we would be in any different of a place except maybe the haves would be less likely getting the virus and the havenots would still be at the current rate along with the elderly.

So now Trump is the whole government? I guess the rest of the government(overwhelming majority) was abducted by aliens and were not on the planet to help fight the issue and help us become better prepared.

Defense official says media reports about November coronavirus intel assessment are false
quote:
A defense official on Wednesday issued a rare denial of reports by ABC News and others that claimed a November intelligence assessment warned about a rapidly spreading coronavirus in China that posed a threat to American forces in the region.
The official said no such assessment existed.
ABC News cited unnamed officials with knowledge of the assessment by the military's National Center for Medical Intelligence (NCMI) that raised concerns of the coronavirus and highlighted how it was disputing (disrupting?) daily life and business in the area.
Col. R. Shane Day, the director of the NCMI, a component of the Defense Intelligence Agency, refuted the ABC News report in a statement:
"As a matter of practice the National Center for Medical Intelligence does not comment publicly on specific intelligence matters," he said. "However, in the interest of transparency during this current public health crisis, we can confirm that media reporting about the existence/release of a National Center for Medical Intelligence Coronavirus-related product/assessment in November of 2019 is not correct. No such NCMI product exists."
The supposed intelligence reportedly was obtained through wire and computer intercepts and satellite images. ABC News did not immediately respond to a Fox News request for comment Wednesday.
The DIA and NCMI spent the past 24 hours going over anything that could be related to the alleged assessment, but failed to find anything, a defense official told Fox News.
ABC News reported that the White House was briefed several times about the document, with one source telling the outlet that "analysts concluded it could be a cataclysmic event." Another source said policy-makers and decision-makers across the federal government, including the National Security Council at the White House, were repeatedly briefed on the matter.
President Trump first received the information in a daily briefing in early January, according to ABC News. The Pentagon said there was intelligence of a possible COVID-19 in January that could cross the Pacific Ocean and impact the United States, but it was not a dire warning.
