I've even heard DCH Tuscaloosa may have someone quarantined.

This is being handled terribly by the gov't as well as employers, and most if not all of the US population will contract it. If China's experience is similar to ours, 20% of the elderly population who contracts to virus will die, and the numbers will be as high or higher with those who are medically immunocompromised. This is going to kill many people. This particular virus is much more contagious than normal, and the US is doing little to nothing to halt its spread. Yeah, everyone or nearly everyone in the US is going to get it.

What should be happening?

Basically, no humans should be congregating. No one should be going to work if that means congregating, all concerts and similar activities should be cancelled, school should be cancelled, no one should be traveling on airplanes or public transportation, etc. If workers cannot work from home and workers must come in, then they should stay 2 yards from each other. No meetings of any kind. The economy will grind to a snail's pace and it's the correct decision.

And the damn gov't needs to be doing precisely what the WHO tells them, rather than doing the opposite to keep reported numbers artificially low in order to manage the fall of the stock market. Once again, the desires of the rich are being prioritized over the needs of the many, and folks will die because of it. Maybe your grandmother.

Anyone who has had contact with anyone displaying symptoms of the common cold should self quarantine at home for a month. Everyone should act like everyone else is sick - stop shaking hands, stop touching doorknobs or similar objects, hands should be washed many times times per day and surfaces should be regularly disinfected. Face masks and other similar items should be given to medical personnel or immunocomprised people and those caring for them, as they are in the line of fire daily. Any healthy adults hoarding these things should be punished, as should any symptomatic adults who go in public.

This virus is contagious in the 13-day incubation period before symptoms show, and so literally anyone you meet could have it. Literally.

Humans just need to stop going out for anything other than necessities, and the economy will by necessity grind to a snail's pace. Where I live, the schools are already closed, all group activities like concerts are already cancelled, nearly everyone is working from home, and the airport is a near ghost town except for tourists going home. And the damn government is listening to the WHO and had dedicated coronavirus labs already set up before the virus got here, and the are using the WHO test and following instructions, including quarantining anyone who's tested positive or who likely could have it. FYI, the virus was brought here by American tourists, so there's that.

EDIT: Any alcohol-based hand sanitizer with less than 60% alcohol will not kill the coronavirus, and that is a lot of them. A LOT. Most if not nearly all non-alcohol based hand sanitizer is worthless against coronavirus. The solution is to regularly wash your hands with soap.

Anyone who wants to make hand sanitizer can use a mix of 2/3 rubbing alcohol and 1/3 aloe vera gel - mix well. Any hand sanitizer must stay on the hands for 20 seconds to work properly, FYI.

Also, stop touching your face. If you must touch your face, do it only after washing your hands.

It should also be understood that any person who's displaying coronavirus symptoms, actually contracted the virus a week and a half ago. It's everywhere already, and anyone reading this sentence could already have it. You just may not show symptoms for the next week or 2. Some of you will get it and never show symptoms. Not everyone does.

Well I feel like we are pretty much headed that direction at this point, but I honestly haven't heard any clear directions for what people who feel they may have the virus should do. Just self quarantine sounds great but what about those needing medical care? And when you say all that you need to do is self quarantine and not seek medical attention it pretty much makes people think the thing isn't that severe.

BTW I don't have any grandmothers left.

If you're young and healthy, you should just hunker down and self-quarantine if you show symptoms. If you start having trouble breathing, then you should seek medical attention. The symptoms are very manageable for healthy people.

No, people needing medical attention must go to the hospital. If you break your arm, go to the hospital. If you get the coronavirus or have the symptoms, do not go to the hospital unless you are elderly or immuno-compromised. No healthy children or non-elderly adults need medical attention for the coronavirus, with exception being that you are not beating it and it's progressing toward pneumonia, and the number of children and non-elderly adults that this happens to will be nearly zero.

FYI, if you want the coronavirus, go to a hospital or medical clinic. You'll get it.

I appreciate your expertise. I just can’t understand why this message isn’t being disseminated across mainstream media. I guess it’s not scary enough.

It has been somewhat. I've read that advice in several articles I've read.

South Korea screened just about everyone for this virus. So their stats are more complete and accurate than anyones. They had 1 percent die, and those were mostly elderly or medically compromised. If 80 percent dont even have symptoms, then how do were know what the survival numbers really are. They dont get included in the percentages.

Because the economic entities who could stand to lose money by people not going to work and not going out to purchase things do not care if Americans die. And your federal government serves those entities, not you.

Same is true for mainstream media. They're not trustworthy. They're always spewing A LOT of false information and propaganda.

Herein lies a huge problem. For instance, my Dad owns a small business that installs tile in homes and businesses (mostly homes). Obviously, that isn't something that can be done from home. If they have to stop working for a couple of weeks it is a huge impact on them, particularly on his employees. He told me hopes they'll do the payroll tax cut, because the money he saves on his personal paycheck and company money to match his employees' payroll taxes can be used to pay his guys for a couple of weeks.

If everyone stays home, who will deliver groceries, drugs, and other necessities everyone needs. Food will run out.

What about our electricity, water, gas? Someone has to go to work to keep our utilities going.

& of course, what about medical, hospitals. These people will have to still go to work.

My family is building a giant wall around our property. We've been collecting guns, ammo, gas, generators, food, water for years just waiting for the end of days. Welp

And it's not only people who deliver items.

For food, it has to get from the farm to processing plants and then to the stores for people to buy. Should all these people working in processing plants just stay home and let the food supply run out. Same with other items needed to live.

Direct relief to workers would be a better idea because a lot of businesses won't be as helpful to their workers as your dad is to his. Many will, but not all.

I've heard there may be one related to a school that has shut down, and another school that is getting ready to shut down (due to that same person).

Could be officially announced tonight.
