A dumb statement. Alabama has accomplished more than any other SEC program in the last 4 years. An SEC reg season title & tourney title or final 4 appearance in 3 of the last 4 years, with hope for more this year. Probably the best roster in school history, maybe one of the better ones in the NCAA in the past 10 years.
Need some time to meld all of the pieces together. Doing it facing another Oats tough schedule.
But hey, you are an LSU or AU fan so you are blind.

We gotta stop playing drop coverage in crucial possessions. It’s a trash defense. Especially against a team who can shoot middys

I really thought, we’d have one of the best defenses, Bamas ever had but it’s been very mediocre, so far. I don’t get it.

I've been saying it. Drop coverage allows our guards to get picked off and they have a hard time recovering.
Plus it allows the opposing guards to get a rhythm going offensively.
Whoever teaches the post players how to defend needs to be fired. Cliff Omoruyi has been getting dominated. He jumps at everything as well!!
These guards and bigs play entirely to high defensively. Half of the time they are standing straight up defensively and that's why the get blown by!!

Any updates on Wrightsell?

There do need to be some changes. Teams are killing us running off high picks and getting in the lane.Hell run undeneath those picks a time or two and see how it goes
Stop driving the basketball with no clue what youre going to do Sears is awful about doing this.

When our defense was at it's very best last year was when Pringle hedged on opponents high ball screen and did an exceptional job of forcing the ball handler off his path.
I have yet to see us high hedge any screens all year, not once. I honestly don't know what we are doing defensively. We have a 7 foot 5th year senior with a wingspan like a terradactyl and he drops back until his head is under the basket almost like he is creating a path for the offensive player.
We don't force any turnovers because there isn't really any time where the opponent has any sense of being rushed. We watched a very good freshman PG eat us alive in game 2 of this tournament and we never once attempted to trap him on high ball screens, even if it would have meant leaving somebody else open don't you have to at least force them into a different strategy. It's as if our coaching staff doesn't trust these guys to do anything that can create a little defensive chaos.

Cliff has no idea how to play drop coverage. Absolutely none. It's either a really bad, disappointing fit or something just isn't registering. Regardless, we have to teach him better or try something different. There's no reason for us to be so mediocre defensively.

Oregon was a disciplined team. At one point we had 11 TO's to their 1. They did a great job of their bigs playing some kind of zone fence like D about 6-7 feet from the basket and our guards would get stuck in the paint and have a turnover. We had experienced guards jumping to make a pass. The art of the bounce pass would have eliminated half of those TO's we had trying to find a perimeter guy to pass to. This game discipline won over bamametrics.

Plenty of things to get better at. Luckily it’s a long season. Id rather we play our best ball late in the season than at the start.

Totally agree. I think Cliff is likely a super solid human being who wants to help the team, but I can't remember being this disappointed in a player who I really thought was a solution. He's not alone either, Sherrell looks baffled defensively and looks like he is in slow motion. Neither one appears to know what their job is and Nate just benches both of them out of frustration. It's not a good look for them or for Nate to be honest.

Split the next two and we are still in good shape. 4-3 out of that stretch isn’t terrible and we have picked up some quality wins. Then you have the three buy games to fine tune some things before conference play.
I don’t think the pieces fit quite the way we thought they would, but the sky isn’t falling. Wrightsell will hurt but hopefully Youngblood is as good as advertised. I still think this team can win the conference and at worst will finish top 3.
Get a 3 or 4 seed in the big dance and see what happens. I think preseason 2 was high and I don’t think this bunch is as good as the 2022 team, but it can still achieve all its goals.

Sears is becoming hard to watch. He and coach both need to realize he’s not a point guard. The unforced turnovers are not ok for a fifth year senior. He needs to be moved off ball.

I agree, Alabama is still tough to beat just based on the sheer talent volume alone on the team. Oregon is really good and if Alabama doesn't gift wrap turnovers all night, they walk away with the win. Alabama has beaten quite a few good teams this year while still not playing near their ceiling. Im still pretty high on this team, just presently frustrated

Still on track for the 10-3 non conference I predicted. Split UNC/Creighton and win the 3 buy games puts us at 10-3.
I’m very worried about UNC if Youngblood can’t go. Especially if Sears keeps struggling.
Evan Miya before the season said we had 4 elite shooters. Mark Sears, Houston Mallette, Chris Youngblood, and Latrell Wrightsell. Right now we only have 1 and he is massively struggling. Idk if Oats will do it but he at least has to consider burning Mallettes redshirt

I said this exact same thing during the Rutgers game. I like Sears and his potential but he's definitely not a point guard.
