I read that this guy had to sit out his entire senior year of high school for some undisclosed eligibility issue. Seems like a low character guy and it’s concerning if staff didn’t do their diligence. I don’t think RB or receiver are really our top positions of need honestly but if they committed funds for this guy without a firm commitment and had to overlook OL/DL then this staff made a mistake.

This past season just proved how having some of the best skill players can’t overcome not having a good O line.

The portal matters much more than HS recruiting. Look at who is playing for the title. Both QBs transferred in. You can't have a successful program without getting a lot of good guys from the portal.

I’m somewhere in the middle of sunshine pumper, and gloom and boomer: this whole portal thing is another giant loss for us. We can sugar coat it any way we want, there aren’t a lot of silver linings going on with our program right now.

How long will the fans put up with this ? I see people on here constantly saying that DeBoer will get another year no matter what happens in 2026. But at this point we will probably have a losing record considering the losses to the portal and the lack of adding quality players through the portal.

Something tells me that Bama already having 3-4 running backs with power 4 experience is a deterrent for running back transfers and the staff isn’t willing to guarantee anyone a starting role.

Honest question... how was Lane and Ole Miss able to build through the portal the last few years? I understand Texas has more oil money. But are you telling me that we have less resources than Ole Miss for NIL? Some how Ole Miss was able to create a very effective NIL program without UTx money.

As someone posted earlier, TidePride renewal emails went out and surprise, prices went up again. Why did prices go up? Has the fan experience gotten better? Have they improved the roster? Is there reason to be excited about the future of the program? Renewal begins Feb 1 I believe and if we don’t have a competitive roster by that time I’m not wasting my money.

Their high school recruiting is not at the same level as ours.

Regardless, do you really want a guy who would pull some shite like that on this squad ? He probably would've been making a lot of business decisions out on the field. Alabama dodged a bullet on this.

Something tells me that having a historically bad rushing offense and an OC who was fired from an NFL team for that same reason isn’t helping matters either. If other teams are offering more money and have a better track record, then it’s a no brainer.

I probably lean more doomer, but this is where I'm at too. I don't know how anyone can spin losing out on all your top targets and starting to comb G-5, FCS, and DII rosters. Getting this portal window right was critical and we have pissed down our own leg.
