The CSC doesn’t have teeth, if I recall. They can’t do shite. The NCAA can’t do shite. Unfortunately, up to Congress.

“Investigating.”
Sure. I’m sure whatever guardrails they put up will stick and won’t be overthrown by a court somewhere. Because that’s not happened at all in the last four years.
The NCAA finally got so tired of getting pummeled in court that they now allow anyone to transfer as many times as they want with no penalty. They aren’t going to do anything about NIL.

Well Supreme Court enabled that. It hasn’t been fixed by Congress.

Oh, so if Alabama beats UGA, UT, LSU, AU, beats 5 ranked teams again, is the #1 seed in the SECC game, makes the CF Playoffs again and wins another game to advance to the quarter finals then Alabama is going to fire the HC? The program would garner further deserved contempt from a laughing nation for its stupidity.
Some looney fans might want it, but thankfully the administration is not so stupid. But if the fan base continues its sense of entitlement, whining and griping, the HC might leave and go coach at USC or the like. Mich and PSU, the top 2 openings in the nation this year, wanted him badly. Finally the stupid, entitled little brats within the fan base will have gotten what they wanted but the program would enter the Nebraska syndrome where the fan base thinks it’s something that it not anymore because the times have changed.
Few kids care anymore about program tradition or prestige or even championships, for life-changing money trumps all. It has been shocking how all of the former attractions have disappeared so quickly - just 2 or 3 years and it’s a different world. Alabama, USC, OSU - who cares when life-changing money is on the table? Very few. What NFL player really cares about the Bears, Packers or even the Patriots? At most it’’s just an added little spice.

And Congress ain’t about to touch an antitrust exemption for college football because they have regretted giving one to baseball for 102 years and they know the other pro leagues would be on the doorstep screaming if college football got one.

I don't know how or exactly when, but I can assure you it should be fixed enough that college football isn't in danger of falling apart.
And the way to know it is to look at the amount spent on gambling on college football. No way they're going to risk letting that cash cow go. The money guys will step in and get Congress to make changes. The courts may be an issue though. We'll see.
Now, how bad it needs to get before things change, no idea.

If they think people are mad now wait to see the reaction if Haywood goes elsewhere

If they can’t at least get a guy like Haywood with starter potential at a position where they don’t have confident answers on campus then it is bleak to be quite frank.

The Collegiate Sports Commission is investigating this very thing this week,
The issue with the CSC is many of the schools did not sign an agreement to allow the CSC to investigate or enforce. Said states even created laws preventing their colleges from doing so.
The next will be this as it would allow an enforcement arm to stop these non market value NIL deals. The fight brewing is that conferences leaders are threatening schools
Who refuse to sign not to schedule them. But since each conference is basically fighting internally over the issue

Part of this fan base is out of its mind. DeBoer was 3-0 vs Lanning while at Wash. All 3 were high stakes games and CKD out-coached Lanning every time. He is one of the most overrated coaches in the country. He has Nike money and can’t win a big game to save his life. (He’s young so he may imorovr.) Do some of you even watch the games? Oregon just lost to Indiana worse than Alabama did. Got behind 35-7 by halftime, then 42-7, then Oregon got some garbage scores and stats. Alabama was behind 17-0 at half, then Ty got injured and fumbled driving for a score to make it 17-7 or 3. But Lanning is who you want to replace DeBoer? The lunacy of some in this fan base is breathtaking. Frankly, if Saban had retired a year later Alabama would not have been able to find someone the caliber of Deboer because all of the advantages of the bluebloods and the SEC have disappeared overnight. Tradition, prestige, even championships mean little anymore when meaningful money is on the table. Alabama, ND, OSU, etc al., means almost nothing. Alabama may have been relegated to a G6 hire or staggered and stumbled into a Willingham or Campbell hire like Mich and PSU.
Also, the SEC has lost its dominance never to return, at least not in the foreseeable future. Since 2022 the SEC is 2-7 in CFP games vs non-SEC, P4 programs. The only 2 wins were by new member Texas last year. UGA considered by some to be the flag-bearer of the SEC hasn’t won a playoff game since 2022, Alabama, the traditional and recent power hasn’t won one since 2021.
Alabama is probably fortunate to have DeBoer, even with his flaws. He appears to be smart and is learning, along with all other coaches, the new landscape of college football. And things are still changing. Alabama would be foolish to part with him in the midst of all this upheaval unless he were to collapse, which seems highly unlikely.

Will be very curious to see how they enforce the third-party NIL deals.

I agree with the broad logic here. Mainly because I do not know where we go after DeBoer. Kiffin, Sark, and many others mentioned in the past all have their warts too. There just aren't that many dominant coaches left in the sport nor does the G6 level have the circumstances to let up-and-comers grow to the point where you can hand the keys of a program like Alabama to them.

I hear you but part of this is either fluky or intentional seeding setups that have the SEC lined up against each other early in the tournament. Hard to beat anyone other than the SEC when your first game is against the SEC. Texas got their two wins with that shambolic seeding arrangement making the 5 seed the most desirable slot in the entire bracket somehow in 2024.

I think 2026 can seem very bleak but what you hope is that the AD and football staff know something that we don't know or they're learning it very quickly.

If they can get each school to sign it will be allowed and this was agreed on out of the House Settlement. The issue with the NCAA it ws determined they did not possess the power to stop it the way they were structured.
No court has said NIL caps and enforcement will be prevented. All the courts have said the organizations that so far have tried cannot but my understanding the schools can agree and enforce it. Meaning they can set their cap and force players to agree to it. If they player decides not to then they do not play. Right now, many schools, those with a lot of money, are refusing to sign an agreement and would they.

Kirby is a good coach but he is not head and shoulders above everyone else in the country. He hasn’t won a playoff game since 2022. When he walks out of his back door he trips over 4 five stars on the way to his car. He doesn’t have Nike or oil money but he has tremendous in state recruiting grounds, maybe the best in the country with little in state competition.

Kirby Smart was able to ride an "old school roster build" to two natties right when Nick Saban's ability to hold a roster and staff together was slipping due to age and transfers.
He's now in the same quagmire as Kalen DeBoer where they have a good level of booster support but not many multinational sports apparel or extraction capital billionaires. However his biggest problem is the inability to hold onto talent like he learned as a guiding principle under Saban.
I wouldn't be surprised if he hangs it up in a few years.

The passing game was fine this year. That’s with Ryan’s struggles and Ty’s limitations and injuries. Yes, the running game was very bad. It will likely improve with a new OLC and Crowell and others.
