worst DB we had last year, it was Belue who made me cringe every time they threw the ball his direction. Jones at least had the excuse just learning where Belue just never could figure it out.

Belue was the best DB we had last year. He was never a lockdown guy, but he was quietly having a very solid season and never really got burnt like he did in 2012. The difference between him and Jones is in 2012 you could see the growth of Belue throughout the year, and on top of that he was almost always in position, he just couldn't find the ball. Jones was out of position a lot.

But the thing is it does NOT need to be confused as bashing him. That is the number one problem on bama boards. Don't like the way a guy played? You're bashing him. No, just no.

You are so far off the mark with that commentary.

I meant Corner, that is my fault. HaHa/LC played better than Belue.

What happened to the practice thread. I clicked on what I thought was it but this is a gripe fest on CJ.

Again you have your opinion and I have mine and I for one am glad Belue is gone.

Belue was the best CB we had last year but that really isn't saying much. We were filled to the brim with youth at that position. I thought we would be okay with Sunseri and Clinton-Dix playing behind them and we were for a time. But when Sunseri went down for the season, we kind of lost that crucial leadership in the defensive backfield. I think that hurt us in the Auburn and Oklahoma games more than people know.

On another note...

I'm kinda excited to see Dillon Lee tear shyt up on the first team defense. Also does anyone think Saban will allow Lane to run some 5 wide empty back sets this year? I would love to see Cooper, White, Foster, Jones, and Black/Howard bully our competition this year.

maybe. i think it depends on how much we get from the QB position. we've got the talent at the skill positions.

If Bo Scarborough qualifies I'd like to see him be a part of that package. You could flex him out or motion him to the backfield. we've got so much talent at the offensive skill positions it's insane; probably the most ever.

Compared to previous #1 CBs we have had on the team since 2007-08, he was no where close to the top of the pack.

why would we do it more or less than we have under Applewhite, McElwain, and Nuss?

He wasn't Dee, Dre, or Kareem.

I'm just looking from a talent stand point with the collection we have now. Top to bottom we have studs unlike those other years, where I think the top 2 or 3 were the best and only lethal options.

Well debatable, but most of their work was in the slot. Belue never really played Star.
