I think we're more experienced in the secondary than people think.
Belue is back, started all 14 games.
HaHa is back, played in every game, had a great year for a first time starter.
Perry/Sunseri are back, but should be expected to be in lesser roles come Fall.
Fulton is back, looked good when he played last year, got a lot of PT last year before getting hurt.
Geno is back, looked good at Star when he played, should play Star all year this season, and has a bit of experience.
Jarrick hasn't played a whole lot over his career, but he's been in the system for a long time.
LC and Jai are athletic freaks. Not very experienced, but athletic freaks nonetheless.

True but pretty much everyone except Belue will have a different role this year than last. CNS often points out that players can be great in a particular role 1 year but struggle initially with an expanded role the next year.
I think we'll be fine but it's something to watch

Among the players returning punts this spring: Amari Cooper.
Someone mentioned in one of our kick return threads a couple weeks ago that he'd be pissed if this happened..... Well, get your pissed pants ready.

It was me. Not a fan of this one.

It makes sense. Get the ball in the hands of your best playmaker. You can't wrap 'em in bubbletape and be afraid of injury.
Hell, the only thing UT did right last year was having Patterson returning kicks...

Agree. I wished one of the C.Jones had stepped up, but if Cooper is the best for it, then I'm all for it.

I get that they're football players and you can't hide them. I just feel differently about punt returners than most. I'm fine with a guy who fields it cleanly, gets what he can, and calls fair catch when he should.
Alabama is/should be talented enough to win without big plays on special teams. Doesn't mean I don't want them. Just means I don't want to risk a player that is more useful elsewhere.
When I was a kid, I was playing Super Tecmo Bowl against my brother. I was playing as Detriot and made Barry Sanders my PR and KR in the depth chart before the game. He was put out of the game on the opening kick off. You know how good the Lions are without Sanders? They fricking suck. I got my arse kicked because i got greedy. That lesson has stayed with me for over twenty years.
Never Again

Atleast we know he has good hands and won't have fumble problems. I hope he doesn't get hurt though.

If he has the skillset for it, then I think it's worthwhile for him to work on handling those duties at times, especially in spring practice. His NFL squad may want to have him back there at times (think Dez Bryant) so why not let him get some reps there.
I seriously doubt he is the primary returner, but u never know, coach may stick him back there in a close game just to make the opposing coach crap his pants, lol.
ETA: Didn't Julio fielding a punt or 2 during his time at UA???

Trent handled a ton of KRs in '10 as well.
I could see Cooper being the "prime time" returner, as you suggested. Not the normal returner, but the guy called on to make a play. Such as DeSean Jackson recently for the Eagles.

My feelings as well. I'd rather it not be Coop, but if we don't have anyone else who can do better than last year, then I think it's worth the risk.
I'm hoping Dee will be able to. He actually won the job for a short time (Ole Miss game) before getting hurt and looked good doing it.

I do too. I just hope he is able to show the burst he once had.

Any guesses on this front?

Tana I would think. He's been having a great spring, finally.

I always thought Okoye was more badass than Bo Jackson on the game. He could just stand there and dudes would just bounce off him. Epic.

Also think it's interesting to watch the order in which the running backs go through their drills. T.J. Yeldon is always first in line. He's then followed by Kenyan Drake, walk-on Trey Roberts, Derrick Henry, Fowler and Hart.
