As for the Corner trouble, I'm wondering if things would be the same with Fulton out there. I like Sylve, and I think he has potential, but I don't know that he's a true technique guy.

Yea I hope that Fulton can lock down a starting spot.

Does anyone know how vanilla the offensive or defensive play calls are in these scrimmages? I'm looking for a reason not to freak out over how bad our secondary might be.

Saban calling the scrimmage more "game-like" keeps me from saying a lot of stuff is situational work, though it still probably did have a lot.

The CBs, as a whole, probably aren't talented and/or experienced as the WRs. Belue is the veteran CB, and yet this is only his 2nd year in the system. By his tackles alone today, looks like he had his share of passes towards him as well.

Fulton returning will give Bama a boost. He's, at worst, the 3rd best CB on the roster. He has experience in the system and has seen extensive playing time, unlike the rest of the CBs.

CBs are needed in the worst way, hopefully the incoming and '14 class can deliver...

And NS like to throw a lot at the DB's in the spring. Plus we have one of the best QB's and WR groups in the nation. This can only make them better

I can hear Verne now.

"McCarron takes a straight drop, pressure coming from the right side, McCarron rolls, he throws, HE'S GOT COOPER DEEP! TOUCHDOWN ALABAMA!"

In two scrimmages Cooper has caught 9 passes for 228 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Rumors (no link) that Henry (ankle) and Morris (knee) both left the scrimmage with injuries. Guess we'll find out tomorrow on White House trip or Tuesday at practice

This 2013 offense might be an all time great at the capstone.

:kige:

Yeldon
A. Cooper
C. Black
AJ McCarron

I just wish we had a star TE. Howard may be that guy. If we had a beast of a TE we would be unstoppable.

I think of it is Howard we will have a TE who can be a pass catcher in the O that will make the D have to focus on him more when he goes into a pass pattern. And with his speed they may not be able to account for him with a LB

@Andrew_Gribble: Saban says Alec Morris, Cooper Bateman and Blake Sims got most opportunities behind McCarron today.

I still have no idea why we offered Ely.

It's sorta unexpected that out of the 3, McLeod is the only true freshman QB to throw a TD in a scrimmage so far. Not only that, he did it in back to back scrimmages.

He was the last QB in this past scrimmage though...

I'll be the one to state the obvious, if they have to use a Safety to cover OJ, that opens up Cooper/White/Black/Bell deep, and it's hard to find a CB that is gonna consistently stop them on deep routes.

I agree. It was this way at times last year too. There were a hand full of instances where Alabama had 2-3 guys wide open down field running deep routes. It was usually Cooper and Bell. Two times in particular were against Auburn and the last drive vs A&M.

Yep, and now here's what a DC has to deal with.

- Good run game, no defense will be able to keep the Safeties very deep, they have to look out for the run, especially if the PA pass (which it will be, but personally I'd like to see some more straight drops)is in effect.

- Four guys (assuming Black is what we think he is) who are gonna be able to blow em out deep. Cooper, Bell, and White are definitely able to do it, can Black do it in live ball in the Fall? I think he can, but we do need him to prove it. Plus I think OJ as a deep threat is something we should consider. No idea what Robert Foster is gonna do, and apparently Falkins has had a good spring, and he's a real lengthy guy who can go up and get it.

- A TE who will force you to make a decision. You'll have to put a Safety or extra Corner on him, and that leaves all those talented WRs open. If you put a LB on him AJ is a veteran and he'll see it and make you pay.

- Good receiving backs. Hart and Kamara would probably be the best, but Yeldon and Drake are also gonna be good backs out of the back field. The others aren't bad.

- A veteran QB coming off of a season where he led the nation in passer rating. He's confident, he's got all the tools, now he's got the toys around him.

- First round blindside protector.

Our D will be good, we know that, but this offense is gonna be scary good. The numbers that we'd put up against weaker conferences is probably insane.
